god where to start. ok so first lets just take a look at his design

hes introduced in rid15 and immediately youre like Oh. because he has a very thick japanese accent (played by eric bauza, not a white man thankfully but not a japanese man either :/) and speaks very stilted, always talking about 'honor' and all that because he cant have character beyond 'stereotypical samurai' apparently. like i cannot stress enough that 'honor' is basically every third word out of his mouth. hes got these two like. wards i guess? jetstorm and slipstream (theyre the little discs on his arms), and while they dont have offensive japanese accents like his, they do speak in a sort of stilted way that my sister described as 'like they have to translate everything before they say it', which would be fine were they not robots who all have this universal translator bullshit!! like hey rid15 can you tell me why These Two specifically sound like theyre speaking a second language while nobody else does? no tell me id like to know. his plotlines with them are all very classic sensei and student cliches, and he also has this nemesis character whos an obvious setup for the whole samurai duel trope.

every single line was just so cringe inducing, its like they had a handbook on how to make a racist caricature and were trying their best to check every box. then he kinda goes completely silent for a while and we kept joking that immediately after his first episode aired, they had to call some kind of meeting like 'how the fuck do we fix this' but it didnt exactly get better 😭 he did kkkkkkind of get a liiittle better? but it mightve been due to him just. speaking less 💀 the problem is that even if they WANTED to fix him, every single building block of his character was racist, so there just wasnt much they couldve done
