It's actually so important to me that Bojack Horseman is canonically a whovian. He gets so mad when no one knows what Doctor Who is + when Princess Carolyn says he sent her "dozens of pages of erotic Doctor Who fanfiction" while he was high...it humbles me! because the point of Bojack Horseman as a show is that he's relatable sure but if you do relate to Bojack you have some fucking work to do and here's me thinking "how could *I* POSSIBLY relate to a middle aged washed up misogynistic celebrity???" and at no point in the show is the critical meta-relatability element of the series more acute for me as a writer then in season 1 when Bojack is MEANT to be writing a BOOK, KNOWS HE SHOULD BE WRITING A BOOK, HE NEEDS TO WRITE A BOOK SO BADLY HE COULD DIE, but his depressed ass just gets high and writes Doctor Who erotica instead. Whenever I watch that sequence I feel the same plundering melancholic self-projection white straight men feel watching Breaking Bad or The Joker
