Horrors Of The Internet!

As a horror fanatic, film lover and person who spends way too much time online I have found myself a hobby that combines all of these things. This project, or blog…whatever you want to call it, is a curated list of scary/unsettling short films that I find on the internet which I analyze afterwards in order to understand my own concept of fear. My only guideline is that the content has to be fictional…with possibly some exceptions.

I rank these films by their total score (the overall quality) and level of fear (how scared it made me upon watching it the first time)

Level of fear: 3/5

Reason for fear: This one is scary in the sense that it makes me afraid of myself.

A part of me occasionally has revenge fantasies about scenarios like this and it never occurred to me to feel concerned about it until I actually saw what I imagined in front of me.

Had good grades but hung out with really sketchy people in highschool and got into trouble a lot. (I picture angsty teen Syd with longer hair and a Radiohead tshirt)

Got peer pressured into getting a stick and poke on his leg. He hates it and keeps it covered at all times.

Didint get into liking celebrities until he started to work more activley as a technician. He is facinanated with them as people but couldnt care less about celebrity gossip. He likes trivia about specific people but finds drama energy draining.

On the topic of being facinated with people, he once had a passion to study psychology but for whatever reason never went through with it

Keeps to himself and doesn’t like interacting with people outside of work. Although he gets along with women better than men. (I can see him willingly staying to chat with his landlady and the achrivist vs his other coworkers)

While introverted hes has the natural ability to be a social chamelon when needed which goes hand in hand with his negotiating skills. Hes extremely observant of other people and adapts according to the situation/desires of the other person. Lucas Clinic hired for this reason

Tech savvy but not internet savvy. Constantly out of the loop with memes and current events but will use random gifs as vague responses in the work group chat

Cant hold alcohol for shit lol, yet somehow still manages to keep lies consistent. Gaining information from him this way wouldn’t work.

Hes a minimalist and a bit of a neat freak as a result of having grown up in a constantly messy home. He moved to a nicer apartment after his promotion at Vole and Tesser yet choses to have the exact same layout of his old apartment with little to no furniture

Has the type of odc where things dont have to be in a freakishly neat order but if something isint in the specific place he put it when he needs it that can throw off the trejectory of his whole day

Bonus theories about the sandwich and orange juice thing because I love to overanalyze stuff:

1. Is actually a decent cook but eats the same premade thing everyday because he prefers every aspect of his life to be consistent

2. He only buys them in preparation for when he knows he is going to be sick because he knows he wont be in any shape to cook then

Level of fear: ???

Reason for fear: This is probably the most difficult scoring Ive had to give. On the one hand I want to give it a high rating just for the makeup design but on the other hand…what was the point of this?

The concept of the bells is so intriguing and unnerving only for the main antagonist to be a lady with sharp teeth. Like I expected the bells to eventually get so loud in the persons head that they just die but…yeah. Why even have bells at all if your mc is only going to suffer death by big chomp.

Its easily a 1 on the fear score, maybe even -1 because the final jumpscare took me out of it. HOWEVER, if I heard just the bells till I eventually got tinnitus Id definitely lose my shit …so theres definetly something to it. It just felt like these would have been so much better as two separate concepts

Reason for fear: Its the dampness of the clay (?) in combination with the brown color scheme that makes everything feel like its a decaying, fleeting moment in time. It made me feel like I was trying to remember a happy moment that had gone wrong, but no matter how many times it replays in my head it will never feel good again.

Reason for fear: BRING BACK ANTIQUE PUPPETS👏👏

Loved the vibe but I was sweating bullets hoping nothing bad happened to the pet. When I see a puppet or clown my immediate reaction is distrust

Reason for fear: This one is very representative of the inner workings of my more stressful dreams. A lot of work and love seemed to go into making this and it shows in the complexity of the scenery

Reason for fear: Idgaf about the lore. This character design is unsettlingly phenomenal and haunting. Excuse me as I go cry myself to sleep
