A Home for my OCs

I've had her on deck as a character concept long before I got into BG3, but her backstory fell together perfectly as something that would parallel Gale's, and I love their story.

Maybe stop trying to take over the world and I'll take you back? That might be a start.

*sigh* this is, admittedly, one of the reasons I fell in love with you in the first place. But still!

Looking up at the sky and through her notes, she cannot seem to find any stars that match the shape, and supposes that it may be a winter constellation. She looks down at it again, thinking she sees it shine in the moonlight, but a moment later it is gone. She shakes her head and begins packing up her tools for the night.

Lyra smiles at the sky. "Can you see the stars where you are? My favorite constellation is having its season now, I can see it in the sky."

[translation: the ancient astronomers called the planets we could see with the naked eye the wanderers, so she's saying there are four planets visible, almost in a line, which occured in the sky recently! The crescent moon is next to Castor and Pollux on the horizon. Ursa minor and Lupus are to the east of the milky way, and at the upper curve of the milky way is Libra. For the northern hemisphere, these are all summer constellations, and the milky way is visible in the summer, but I didn't overly concern myself with exact positioning.]

Her brows turn upward in confusion. Something surges within her, as if inspecting the surrounding area to tell her that she really is alone out here, but she knows something happened. She couldn't have imagined it. Whatever the case, probably best to be polite. "My name is Lyra. Please, whatever specter or magical creature you are, show yourself."

(Well, isn’t this curious…where are you now, Lyra?)

"You can speak to me, yet you do not know where I am? Besides, I have introduced myself, yet you have not. That's hardly fair."

(Hm, that is true…but why is knowing my name important to you?)

(How demanding… He didn’t sound-nor feel-annoyed or offended. Amusement was still clearly there. Is that the only way forward then? For me to share with you my name?)

(You are not. Came a less amused reply, I am using magic to speak with you…thinking you were perhaps someone else. I may find I am mistaken, however.)

She fiddles with her tunic nervously. "Would you like help finding them? I'm excellent at research, and there are plenty genealogical records in the library."

(No…I am not looking for anyone specific. You say you study the stars, Miss Lyra? Interest entered his ‘tone’ Why are you doing so?)

Lyra claps a hand over her mouth. "I... Have a tendency to ramble. You asked another question..." She taps her fingers until she remembers. "Oh! Right, you asked why I study them... No one has asked me that before." She looks up at the night sky again, pondering the answer. "I just... I just love them I suppose. Does that answer your question?"

(It does, yes. You do this alone?)

He somehow made it sound like he was giving a careless shrug with those words.

(I do not settle myself on only one subject or category of study. He replied, a smirk in his voice. I have dabbled in many of life’s mysteries. Some more useful than others, but informative all the same…)

She tilts her head, tracing the spine of one of her books idly. "You... You're still here, and speaking with me, even though I'm not who you were looking for. Why?" It's not as if anyone has ever paid her much attention. The loneliness surely creeps into her voice as she asks.

She covers her mouth after a moment. How could she know this stranger's situation? And yet she feels it as fact. "I'm so sorry."

Your assumptions are not misplaced….do you perhaps speak from experience, yourself?

She fidgets with her hair, twisting a lock of it pensively. "Though... That doesn't mean I'm not consistently lonely. So perhaps I understand a little."

How can I choose just one? The world is full of beautiful shades and hues… He replied, his tone light and thoughtful. There are many colors… But what is yours if you are able to choose one?
