Aaravos, the Archmage of Xadia

Once Peccantum and Aaravos got the camp set up, Peccantum showed Aaravos the map, and insisted he showed him the route.

"Where at the boarder, specifically." Peccantum insisted, eyes not moving off the path.

"I want to know what crossing you found from Xadia into the West." Peccantum frowned, tilting his head slightly as he looked up at Aaravos, "There's not many you know."

“…true.” Aaravos looked back at the map, “I know where it is. And it is best that the knowledge remain with me alone until we get there.”

“Well it isn’t exactly knowledge I want the rest of Xadia to learn about.” Aaravos quirked a brow. “If you are captured and tortured, I want to keep some of my secret knowledge from them.”

Peccantum frowned, "Well that's a little extreme. Also why by the forsaken stars would they think I have that information?"

“If they knew you were with me, who’s to say they wouldn’t make the connection?” Aaravos asked darkly.“Those that knew of me me knew my reputation…and as you are an elf who has used Dark Magic, they will assume you are the same.”

"They may know about it already." Peccantum insisted, sounding a bit annoyed, "It's been three hundred years, it could have already been discovered."

“If that were the case, why have you not heard about it then?” Aaravos quirked a brow. “They will have blocked it off by now, knowing them, and warned everyone of the humans’ attempt to penetrate our magical lands.”

"I do know of a route!" Peccantum argued, "But it's a bad idea. But I don't know if the one you're talking about, because you won't tell me."

“Well what is this route you are thinking of then? And why didn’t you tell me about it sooner?” Aaravos looked at him again, frowning.

Aaravos went completely silent, staring at the place Peccantum was pointing at. The Archmage had also gone tense and his face was unreadable as he stared at the map.

“…are you certain the Sunfire elves are doing something about The Breach?” Aaravos asked, still not looking up. “Do you know if they have guards stationed there?”

"No. I haven't gone looking myself, but it was pretty big news...." At the time he'd actually been looking into where he eventually found Aaravos, "Why does it matter?"

“…that was the opening I was going to take us through.” He was now glaring at the map but not actually at the map.

"....well, fuck." Peccantum sighed, looking down at the map "Guess we gotta find a different way then."

“The only other ways are the Moonstone Path which is far too close to a Moonshadow elf settlement to be safe to pass, and the other is making our own way through which I cannot do on my own.” Aaravos’ voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. “And as you will not help me with it, that won’t work anyway.”

Peccantum remained silent. It was probably better not to make the other more frustrated than he likely already was.

"..." Peccantum closed up the map, "....We don't have another realistic choice besides The Breach, do we."

“I’m afraid not.” Aaravos looked back at the closed map darkly. “Any other way would risk being here too long and being discovered eventually…”

The younger startouch sucked in a sharp breath between his teeth, "That's.... Not ideal. Let's avoid that."

"Getting a job wouldn't be viable if we're trying to seem non existent." Peccantum held up all three fingers, then put one down, crossing the option off the list, "We don't have a lot to sell... So that leaves...."

"Yeah." He nodded, "Not a lot, but... Most of what I had was from pickpocketing."

“Then you are familiar with the craft…” He grimaced before saying. “It seems then…you may have something to teach me.”

"Oh." Peccantum glanced down, "I... Guess I could show you. Though magic might be helpful."

“If we do that we will have to go as different elves. By the time we got back to town our money will have disappeared.”

"Easier than traveling to a town along the way. We don't have the food for a major detour."

"That works." He nodded, "But we likely won't get much from here."

“It’s better than nothing, at least.”

"Yeah..." Peccantum paused, "We start tomorrow?"

“Unfortunately I can’t see it from where I am.” He sounded to be maybe smiling despite these words. “Will you describe it to me?”

“Lovely.” He replied, sounding like he was smiling. “I wish I could see it myself.”

“The only other ways are the Moonstone Path which is far too close to a Moonshadow elf settlement to be safe to pass, and the other is making our own way through which I cannot do on my own.” Aaravos’ voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. “And as you will not help me with it, that won’t work anyway.”

Peccantum remained silent. It was probably better not to make the other more frustrated than he likely already was.

"..." Peccantum closed up the map, "....We don't have another realistic choice besides The Breach, do we."

“I’m afraid not.” Aaravos looked back at the closed map darkly. “Any other way would risk being here too long and being discovered eventually…”

The younger startouch sucked in a sharp breath between his teeth, "That's.... Not ideal. Let's avoid that."

"Getting a job wouldn't be viable if we're trying to seem non existent." Peccantum held up all three fingers, then put one down, crossing the option off the list, "We don't have a lot to sell... So that leaves...."

Once Peccantum and Aaravos got the camp set up, Peccantum showed Aaravos the map, and insisted he showed him the route.

"Where at the boarder, specifically." Peccantum insisted, eyes not moving off the path.

"I want to know what crossing you found from Xadia into the West." Peccantum frowned, tilting his head slightly as he looked up at Aaravos, "There's not many you know."

“…true.” Aaravos looked back at the map, “I know where it is. And it is best that the knowledge remain with me alone until we get there.”

“Well it isn’t exactly knowledge I want the rest of Xadia to learn about.” Aaravos quirked a brow. “If you are captured and tortured, I want to keep some of my secret knowledge from them.”

Peccantum frowned, "Well that's a little extreme. Also why by the forsaken stars would they think I have that information?"

“If they knew you were with me, who’s to say they wouldn’t make the connection?” Aaravos asked darkly.“Those that knew of me me knew my reputation…and as you are an elf who has used Dark Magic, they will assume you are the same.”

"They may know about it already." Peccantum insisted, sounding a bit annoyed, "It's been three hundred years, it could have already been discovered."

“If that were the case, why have you not heard about it then?” Aaravos quirked a brow. “They will have blocked it off by now, knowing them, and warned everyone of the humans’ attempt to penetrate our magical lands.”

"I do know of a route!" Peccantum argued, "But it's a bad idea. But I don't know if the one you're talking about, because you won't tell me."

“Well what is this route you are thinking of then? And why didn’t you tell me about it sooner?” Aaravos looked at him again, frowning.

“…are you certain the Sunfire elves are doing something about The Breach?” Aaravos asked, still not looking up. “Do you know if they have guards stationed there?”

"No. I haven't gone looking myself, but it was pretty big news...." At the time he'd actually been looking into where he eventually found Aaravos, "Why does it matter?"
