Maybe I'm too woke, but I accept that fate (better than the alternative, at least).

So I loved Gotham as a kid. I've almost memorised season 2 from how often I replayed it. I was rewatching the show recently and realised just how poor black representation is in the show.

I said this on Reddit and got absolutely obliterated, but it's a little weird how almost every black character they introduce ends up being killed, aside from Lucius for obvious reasons. And the way they're killed is really unsatisfying too, like the junior officer, the chief from season 1, Ms Peabody, Tabitha (?), Fish. One particularly egregious example is when they introduce a S5 gang of all black people and they're immediately riddled with bullets by Penguin's gang off-screen.

Are white people killed too? Yes. But when your show is filled with mostly white people, how you depict people of colour is important.

That's not to say I don't like the show -- most older TV shows are iffy when it comes to gender and race -- I just wanted to speak on it a little.

Hey so I wanted to do a fun writing exercise that I think would be interesting since everyone has a LOT of different opinions about the whole Oswald and Ed killing each other plot line in season 3. I know the show finished 7 years ago but I’m still curious; if you were a writer on Gotham, how would you have changed that plot line to make it better (or at least find some way to salvage it in the following seasons)?

Lucius Fox in Gotham feels like wasted potential. He is supposed to be a mentor figure to Bruce like Alfred is, yet all he really does throughout the show is just help the GCPD.

No character arc, no struggle, nothing. I’m not saying he needs to have a character arc to be a great character, but bro give me my man something to do! He is so cool in the Nolan Trilogy, and the actor who plays him in Gotham (Chris Chalk) is so charismatic, why didn’t they do more with him? 😭

i actually think the reason there’s such a fundamental lack of jason and duke team up content is because whenever they’re in the same room for more than three minutes duke will say some shit like ‘oh and this coming from the mothafucker who got oneshotted by a clown with a crowbar?’ and without missing a beat jason will easily respond with ‘ok and who oneshotted your parents, huh? why’re you here, foster boy?’ and bruce has banned them from conversing.
