this has got to be some overly elaborate prank show. it's what she's been telling herself since she woke up in a bed that wasn't hers, next to some stranger in the cookie cutter version of hell. now, perched on a stool at the kitchen island, she not so subtly stares at the man - as if somehow she'll be able to latch onto a lie ( or drag up some sort of memory if he really is to be believed ). "look, i'm not under the delusion that we're actually married. not unless we're somehow both experiencing amnesia." maybe she ought to check the CO2 detectors around the place now that she thinks about it. it is all the confirmation he requires to know that she wants the union as little as he wishes to watch it occur. unlike the woman before him, his steps are hard and heavy against the earth as he trails in her wake - as if trying to make someone or something pay for the turmoil that swirls so thickly within the air surrounding them. "vows are not things to be taken lightly." something he'd learned decades prior, with words that still hung from his shoulders like shackles, like chains. "yet you would make one to appease a man in search of power and politics over your own well being?" in some ways, humans and fae are no different. self-sacrificing for others in a way that infuriates and baffles the man. "i do not wish for pieces. i wish for you whole, hardy and happy. and if you are capable of looking me in my eye and swearing you will be so following the desires of others than i shall-" there's a lump in his throat, one he has to swallow before continuing, this time softer, "than i shall stand aside and watch you wed. but if you say differently than i will.." what? what could a half-human, half-fae - an abomination - do for this woman? basket tucked beneath her arm and propped against her hip, freya tried not to pay much mind to the handful of couples reuniting about their village, having learned time and time again that anticipating him to be amongst such a crowd would only lead to disappointment. its half the reason she'd grabbed up the things in need of washing, determined to be far from happy reunions as possible for the day. she's so far into her own thoughts that the sound of a voice so close behind her person has her startling - nearly spilling the contents of her basket everywhere before she manages to catch herself. "gods be-" turning to snap at the other, freya stills at the sight of her husband. `you are not an apparition? nor is this a dream?"

"always a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day nik." the smile she shoots him is tight before her attention is dropping to adjust her suit with a frown. "in the end, this is what we signed up for - to pick up the mess the world inevitably steps into. so brighten up buttercup. we can finally put our argument to rest on whose the better avenger, you or me. F.R.I.D.A.Y. can probably keep count on how many we take down and report back once we get back to the jet."

working for the avengers and often falling into the role of psuedo-babysitter was certainly a bit of a roller coaster. she's learned ( perhaps the hard way ) to roll with the punches and go with the flow... which for a woman who'd had a life plan growing up was an adjustment. so while she nearly startles out of her skin when she opens her bathroom door and the younger man is standing right in front of her, she really isn't as shocked to see him as she should be - though it doesn't stop wet feet from slipping on the tile. doesn't stop one arm from pinwheeling and smacking him in the chest as she snatches onto the shirt she immediately clocks as too large for him to balance herself.
