And that’s the ultimate goal of Honda 67 ride. We're riding the length of Vietnam on 1967 100cc Hondas to raise money for that very pupose.

The penultimate day!

So far the trip has been almost perfect as far as mishaps. Unfortunately Jim took a tumble on the second to last day. Fortunately he was ok, but brusied and grazed but nothing serious. We ride on to Phan Thiet.

Day 19 - Nha Trang

We had a rest day in Nha Trang today, so no bike photos... just a few pictures from a brief wander around this lovely city.

Day 18 - Ea Drang to Nha Trang

A long day with about 220 km to cover, mostly on national highways. Highways that are quite narrow and poorly maintained. Potholes and dust were the order of the day. And crazy Vietnamese truck and bus drivers who overtake at speed, even on blind corners, with no regard for oncoming traffic (eg: Honda 67 riders). It was all worth it though when we finally pulled in to the beautiful beach resort city of Nha Trang.

Day 17 - Kon Tum to Ea Drang

Day 17 proved to be the most uninspired and unimpressive day of the trip. A relatively straight and flat road for 140 km. Straight and flat, save perhaps for miles of roadworks and rough surfaces. Although the scenery was nothing to speak of, one had to keep their wits about them for all the buses, trucks and minivans overtaking at ridiculous speed and coming straight for you. A couple of near misses and a few fists shaken in the air in anger (and one boot). The noodle soup (Pho Bo) for lunch was the only highlight.

Day 16 Kham Duc to Kon Tum

With our more compact pack, we headed out of Kham Duc to continue our journey south. There was some pretty great riding through the mountains in the morning... long sweeping corners and stunning vistas.

Unfortunately we had to change plans in the afternoon and couldn't take the high road through the Chu Mom Ray National Park due to poor road conditions.

Once again we were overwhelmed by the fabulous support from the Honda 67 Club - this time 15 members of the Kon Tum club met us outside the city and escorted us to our hotel.

Da Nang to Tam Ky

Day 13: Da Nang to Tam Ky

Departing our home city of Da Nang, we headed south to the Quang Nam provincial capital of Tam Ky... with a police escort. It was a fairly unremarkable and short trip. A highlight was being met outside Tam Ky by 20 members of the local Honda 67 Club.

Day 12: Meeting the Honda 67 Club of Da Nang

During our weekend off in Da Nang, we were lucky enough to be invited to the monthly meeting of the Da Nang chapter of the Honda 67 Club. It was great to meet with other "Sáu Bảy" enthusiasts.

A group of 10 foreigners are riding Honda 67 bikes from Ha Noi to HCM City, following the former Ho Chi Minh Trail, to raise funds for improvements in healthcare for childbearing women and premature babies in the central region.
