I finished watching Aftersun a few hours ago and it destroyed me completely. Long story short: it hit too close home, literally home. At the beggining of the film I could see so many memories I lived with my father, now dead. When they're were swimming in the sea I remembered being at the beach only with my dad, but it was super boring because he only allowed me to go 2 or 3 meters into the sea. Later I found out it was because he almost drowned, very far from the coast, when he was my age at that time. And also, as the film went on it revived an anxiety I forgot living. An anxiety that came from not knowing what was happening or what I could do to help. Needless to say, I started crying 2 minutes into the movie. The way so many of their memories were filmed on some sort of digital camera was also devastating. There's 2 of them in the box filled with my father's things.

I miss my man (he's been underground for 8 years now)
