The cutest thing about Ballerino Haechan is how his feet are always in a basic ballet position at the most random times. He can be standing idly in their Youtube content or spontaneously posing for photos but bet he will stand like he's just waiting for the music to play.

It's no surprise that he carries this in his dancing, as well.

It gets even more evident next to others.

🌿 Well-maintained posture, extension, and precision

The easiest way to explain Haechan's posture, extension, and precision is using this specific "Superhuman" fancam. Not only is he alone in the video, but he's also wearing black and well-fitting clothes that highlights the shapes he creates with his body.

Observe how tall and long he looks. This is possible because of the extended movements of his limbs, and the way the moves follow through until his fingertips.

He leans backward at 2:20 to extend his body. His awareness of shapes enables him to add an illusion of more length to his neck, arms, and legs.

Haechan incorporates the techniques mentioned above like spotting and having a centered upper body whenever he does his spins, and it's so satisfying to watch.

To end this long ramble on Haechan and his ballerino tendencies in dancing, here's 'Love Sign' and its dance break that he choreographed himself.

It's filled with various elements of ballet (as well as other dance forms he learned), and it's a very accurate culmination of all the aforementioned observations.

Haechan is very particular about his dancing. We already know this, but he takes time to understand the choreography before adding his own flare to it.

He can roughly tell when the fancam was shot based on his facial expressions and the nuances of his dancing. He really watches his fancams, and it makes sense why he constantly improves and changes things up every performance!

He realized he fits R&B more and he's listening more to the genre. We're all seated for R&B HOLO.

Not to be a Sunflower, but it's really fun to watch Haechan's solo lives because he's interesting. No exaggeration but I can listen to him talk all day about any topic under the sun (😉), but especially when it's about his craft.

Haechan: "To tell you briefly, among the songs that I, Taeil-hyung, and Deez-hyung wrote together, there's a song that I like more than "Love Sign". I'm not sure if I can play that song, but I want to if I get a chance. It feels like a computer has generated my favorite song. It is my style itself."

Note: They left "N.Y.C.T." unreleased on purpose, with "Love Sign" being featured on The Link concerts instead since it's a song made as a concert piece.

I'm glad that he got to show a snippet of his favorite self-written song. Haechan's always happy to share his craft with the fans, and I am just in awe listening to it and watching him perform. He's grooving to it so playfully, too. The laid-back vibe of the song makes me bounce to it, but damn is it a difficult song. The high notes are insane! Needless to say, I want to hear the full version.

🌿 The Announcement

No exaggeration, we lost our minds. Before Good Person (2022), Haechan has 0 solo activities to his name. Six years and nothing! You can only imagine how this announcement from Playlist Korea shook sunflowers. We have been praying for a Haechan solo activity for so long, to the point that we don't even care what's it going to be: a solo magazine shoot, a variety show guesting, or even a short interview somewhere. To be honest, it's sad to see all the members except Haechan have at least one solo activity in 2021. It's unfair that his schedule is so packed that he can't even fit one solo schedule in between. So, we hoped that 2022 is a more generous year for him, and it is. It's more than whatever first solo activity we hoped for. It's an OST! A main vocalist having his long-awaited first solo activity outside the NCT brand and it's an OST! We were feeling over the moon (or the sun 😉).

🌿 Good Person (2022)

It is the OST for the drama PLY FRIENDS: Seo Yeon University Class of 22 released by Playlist Korea. Good Person (2022) is the latest rendition among the various remakes of Toy’s “Good Person” released in 2001.

Haechan's Good Person was supposed to be released on the 6th of March, but the company in charge decided to move it a day earlier due to the positive response and excitement from fans.

Haechan was also chosen by the TTA as the Best Artist of K-Drama OST among Malaysian fans for Good Person (2022).

🌿On the Recording Process

Of course, none of this will be possible without Haechan's hard work. In Music Space with Taeil and Doyoung where he also sang "Good Person (2022)" live for the first time, he shared his thought process regarding the song's recording, and some specific details that he had to do for this endeavor.

Haechan: "While recording the song "Good Person", one of the hardest parts about it is that I wasn't telling my own story, but I was telling a story of the main character of the drama through the song."

On the technical aspect of recording "Good Person (2022)" The pronunciation which I worked on, or other habits that I had, I got rid of all of them. The director also asked me to make it sound as natural as possible. As you know, I don't sing like I talk. I can't sound like this when I normally sing, but I tried hard to sing like I was talking as much as possible. It was hard, but it was still worth trying. So, that was a bit different. In a group, I can do what I want to do. When my part comes out, it's nice if it's impactful. But for this, I have to do the entire development by myself, so I had to sing accordingly.

🌿 Fan Reception

Being a sunflower is hard, but once in a while, you get a Haechan OST, and it becomes your anthem.

Personally, Haechan's "Good Person (2022)" is really meaningful to me. I had to repeat it so many times when it came out and I had goosebumps just listening to the instrumentals, waiting for Haechan's voice. I cried when it did. Legit. I used to get confused at people who have "comfort songs" or whatever they call it but middle finger to the younger me because comfort songs are real and to present me, it's Good Person. Sure, we're not all in an unrequited love like the character in Haechan's OST, but I know for sure that Haechan's voice brings all of us comfort, and I think that's enough to keep listening to it.

I just want to add that if you're playing "Good Person (2022)" nonstop as well, don't fret. You're not the only one. In fact, we have an idol fanboy in our midst who even sang a cover of it on a radio show. He also reacts to the song the same way we do. This is DRIPPIN's Joo Changuk who is among the growing number of 4th gen idols who look up to Haechan. He's the original idol sunflower so check out Changuk and Drippin's music, as well!
