On a small hiatus

This au takes place within Half-Life two. The description describes it more.

Long story short, this blog will be on break. Not a long one, and it's surely not over or discontinued, we just need a break. I need to work on the plot a bit more and make talking sprites, I hope y'all understand. I also need to work on art other than this blog because I'm planning on opening commissions and I need to prepare for that as well.

I hope y'all understand where I'm coming from, but do remember this blog isn't over or anything, I just need a break, and need to work on my other ask blogs because I've been prioritizing this one.

Coomer immediately gets ready to run but Gordon quickly blocks the makeshift doorway.

"Please if we're racing can someone at least give me a gun cause I'm kinda being hunted right now!"

Benrey hands Gordon a pistol that came out of no where, Gordon doesn't question it though. Bubby crosses their arms.

"Let's GOOOO Gordon. I want to get out of here as quick as I can."

"Yeah Bubby I know I know."

The team starts to head out the lab, ending up where Coomer comforted Gordon yesterday.

"If we continue at a good space we will get to the lab in 3 hours!"

Gordon shakes his head fondly as they continue walking. He whispers so only you can hear him.

"I don't think they're gonna tell us, or that Coomer will give us the correct amount of time."

"Yeah sorry, don't trust him yet."

"aww bro why noooot-"

Bubby dusts of his lab coat before extending an arm to Gordon, helping him get up.

"Can we fucking go already? Do you know how much of a damn risk this is?"

Gordon's about to respond before Coomer beats him to it.

"Now dearest, Gordon just woke up! We can berate him after we get to Darnold's lab!"

Bubby grumbles in response. Gordon takes in his surroundings, noticing Flaze is in Bubby's coat pocket, Coomer has The Big One, and Benrey has Shrimp in a torn up satchel-like bag.

Gordon sits up and slaps Benrey's hand away. Benrey picks up Shrimp off the ground.

"yo it's me bebret"

Gordon nods his head and looks at the person in front of him expectantly.

"Well... Tommy's location is, unknown to put it best. I have not been able to find him myself, though... Maybe you might be able to, Mr. Freeman. As for an explanation... I recommend you wait until you're back with Darnold instead."

Gordon sighs, knowing he isn't gonna get an answer until then. Before he can speak his concerns, the other man speaks first.

"Our time is, running short, Mr. Freeman. I have to go."

He stands back up, and helps Gordon stand as well. As G-Man starts to walk away towards the glowing white space, they turn back for a moment.

"Please do keep an eye out for my, progeny, Mr. Freeman."

G-Man quietly chuckles, catching Gordon by surprise, before responding.

"I understand being afraid for your child's health. I am... Quite worried about my own child's whereabouts. I would be... Concerned if you weren't worried about Joshua's health, Mr. Freeman."

"Yeah I guess you're right, would be pretty worrying if I didn't care about my kid."

"Please just tell me Joshua."

"He's... Safe. Much older now, as you can probably deduct, Mr. Freeman."

Gordon sighs in relief, sitting down, legs shaking so bad he didn't know if he could stand much longer.

"Please say there's no catch to that."

"There is no... 'catch' as you said, but this world is quite dangerous. He has a small group of, rebellions he stays close to. Surely you'll be able to find him, correct?"

"Man I fucking hope so. I owe him a lot."

G-Man approaches Gordon slowly, crouching down to his level.

"Mr. Freeman I... Do apologise for the lack of warning. As you could tell, things have changed, hm?"

Gordon scoffed and glared at the man in front of him.

"No shit buddy. What the hell happened? How long was I fucking gone? Where the hell is my son?!"

G-Man listened to his questions, nodding his head as they were asked.

"So many questions at once, Mr. Freeman?

"I... Suppose that's something I can be called."

Gordon puts his hand on his knee, pushing himself up to stand. He crosses his arms and stares pointedly at G-Man.

"I do owe you an explanation, Mr.Freeman... Don't I?"

Gordon nervously laughs at first, but then considers his past.

"Oh my god am I?"

He can feel the ground under him, but can't see it, he can hear footsteps fitting fancy shoes approaching, he can't really taste anything-

Wait, footsteps?

He whips his head in the direction they're coming from, and recognizes the figure immediately.

"You have some fucking explaining to do buddy. Don't throw me into a new place again without an explanation this time."

The figure listens to Gordon rant for a moment, before speaking up.

Gordon finds his eyes wide open. He sits in a void, completely still. Nothing around him except small, flickering lights.

It seems familiar somehow...

Gordon turned to Coomer and Bubby, they both look rather tired.

"I want to go to sleep Gordon."

"You know what, that sounds great let's go to sleep now. It's been a long day."

After a joyous "Goodnight Gordon!" From Coomer, both of the old men laid down, limbs together as they cuddle. Flaze lays down happily on Bubby's back.

Gordon grabs a blanket and makes a makeshift pillow with it. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Benrey grab Shrimp. He lays down on the blanket, staring at the ceiling for a moment.

"Can I finally ask where Tommy is?"

Benrey's silent, causing Gordon to look over at them, they're petting Shrimp as she chirps happily. They avoid eye contact with him.

"Ask again later the 8-ball says"

Gordon chuckles both in surprise and nervously. He just wants to sleep. He decides he'll ask Darnold tomorrow once they get moving, he soon drifted off.

Maybe he'll dream tonight...
