It's a waste product from the creation of hiveslugs which is often rich in calcium and protein needed to construct the muscle and skeltons of hiveslugs. Instead of engineers adjusting the system for the least amount of waste, the juice is extracted and filtered for consumption until the label "milk." Phobos drinks it all the time, and that is what he claims to be the reason to why he so tall. The public doesn't really know about how it's made and... thats for the better...

As a Hive fan, I struggle with Hive content because it constantly suffers and idk what to do about it. I don't want to make depressing content 24/7, but I also don't want to make blindly lighthearted content. Damned this brain for attaching to this character, because I would've been happier with a different blorbo.

This is the most random hc ever but... Hive literally can't taste and possibly not able to smell too. He gets all of his energy from an energy pack on his back (as far as I know), so there would be no use in tastebuds because there's no food going into the mouth. My hc could be wrong and Nexus didn't bother with removing taste buds when creating Hive, but whatever.
