Sentence endings are hard to use properly and if you don’t use them properly you will essentially sound like a transvestite(best comparison I have heard lol) Here is (almost) every sentence ending you will run into with explanation and when/how to use. Some are gender specific, granted guys and girls use all from time to time, but those are on special occasions(I’ll get into detail on that) This list may omit some regional sentence endings so don’t rage if you don’t see something~ Finally, up arrow indicates your infection of voice goes up, and a down arrow indicates downward inflection. よ - used to introduce new information to the listener or add exclamation. このすしがうまいよ↑ - This sushi is amazing(you haven’t tried and should) さ - similar use of 「よ」, in the middle of a sentence it’s use to keep pace so to speak/thinking time がんばるさ　- Do your best なんかさ、今日は公園に行ったさ - So like, today I went to like the park and stuff. ね - used in a way of asking for approval; similar to our “right?” このすしがうまいね -　This is some great sushi right/huh? だ - just short form of 「です」, makes a statement. このすしがうまいだ - This sushi is amazing. の - used to make something a question このすしがうまいの↓ - Is this sushi good? たのしかったの↓ - That was fun huh? ぞ - pretty masculine. Creates the effect of “Let’s…”(kind imperative and commanding) 行くぞ - Let’s go(now) ぜ - pretty masculine. Creates the effect of “I’m gonna do this(strongly).”(kind imperative and commanding) 行くぜ　- I’m gettin outta here わ - feminine ending. Sometimes used by guys if they want maybe a softer touch, but I don’t recommend any guy to use this unless they are fluent cause you will sound like a girl almost guaranteed 行くわ↑ - Let’s go~ かい？ - pretty masculine. Creates the effect of “we gonna…?” 行くかい？ - We gonna go or what? まぁ！ - if at the end it’s like suprise, but if before something it is same as　「まぁまぁ」 だよ - Combination of 「だ」and 「よ」 endings short for 「ですよ」. The　「だ」 would just put more mmph on the 「よ」 part. 本当だよ！- I’m serious man! だね - Combination of 「だ」and 「ね 」 endings short for 「ですね 」 本当だね - That’s true huh よね - Combination of 「よ」and 「ね 」. It is new information that you are still a little uncertain about 楽しいよね - It’s pretty fun(right?) だよね - Combination of 「よ」and 「ね 」 with short form of 「です」 also 「だ」. It is new information that you are still a little uncertain about. Nearly exactly the same as 「よね」the　「だ」 would just put more mmph on the 「よ」 part. 楽しいだよね - It’s really fun(right?) わよ - feminine ending. Combination of 「わ」 and 「よ」. A soft way of saying 「よ」 やっぱり怖いわよ - It’s pretty scary… わね - feminine ending. Combination of 「わ」 and 「ね」. A soft way of saying 「ね」. 怖いわね - It’s scary right? わよね - feminine ending. Combination of 「わ」, 「ね」 and 「よ」 . A soft way of saying 「よね」. なの - the なの is really just の. The な is only there if you use it after a noun or a na-adjective そうなの - Is it really? This is the same as そうなんですか but less formal. な。なあ - Usually guys use this instead of 「ね」, but people use it as thinking out loud to one’s self 寒いな。。。 - It’s cold huh?/Man it’s cold(thinking out loud here) けど・けど。。。 - this is used as we would use the word “though” この部屋がくさいけど。。。 - That room smells though… やで - kansai area dialect/slang for 「だよ」 もうだいじょうぶやで！ - We’re fine already… (say this to barking dog lol) じゃ - old people use this, same as 「だ」. なにしておるのじゃ？！ - Kinda “old samurai way” of saying “What are you doing” gets laughs usually if you say it. that and 「いまんねん」 which is old as fuck for 「いる」 - むしがいまんねん - old ass way to say “there is a bug in here” I got good laughs when I said this lol じゃん - same asking 「じゃない？」. This one depends on context and intonation いいじゃん↑ ？ - You’re good right? いいじゃん - It’s good/I’m good やん - kansai area dialect/slang of 「じゃん」 so same rules apply かな。。。 - this is put at the the end of a sentences. Similar to “I wonder…” そうかな。。。 - is that so… もん - Only girls use this, goes at the end. This is more current than 「わ」 and you will sound cute if you use this, but don’t go overboard and use it on every setence. You gotta use it like a spice, not too much だもん - Same as 「もん」 just with 「だ」 added at the end, same rules apply Uses of both strongly masculine and strongly feminine sentence-final particles has been on the decline. Women these days generally use moderately masculine sentence endings 「よ」「だよ」「だよね」「だお」. But older women will use the feminine ones. But, comics and anime use them a lot of obtain character identity.
