Ivan compares himself to a parasite who wishes to reside in Till, describing Till’s figure as a paradise where a being like Ivan can seek refuge. Simply put, Ivan envisions paradise to be where Till is, leeching off of him like a parasite. Perhaps a confirmation that Ivan’s feelings for Till are unjust, and he realizes that his desires are selfish.

Towards the beginning, Ivan recounts a part of his life without Till. Where each melody appeared monotonous, he found no purpose in living; he simply existed as a vessel with nothing to store, but with Till, his world turned Technicoloured, and after experiencing this warmth- Ivan is hesitant to let go. His life was an awful tragedy but with Till he found an escape from the cruelty of the ANAKT garden.

“The rest between the notes you sing, Could that space soon be my seat?” Perhaps this is a reference to round 2. Throughout his performance, Till’s gaze is fixated on Mizi; each word is written for her, yet Ivan can’t help but crave this space in Till’s song.

This comparison to love as a parasitic relationship is almost unsettling, but Ivan identifies that he loses himself in Till’s essence. His affection is no longer soft (unlike Mizi and Sua); it’s a desperate form of hunger. His craving for Till is gnawing at him, and he’ll accept their relationship no matter the form it takes for as long as Till is beside him, and if that can't occur, he'd rather die than live in a world where the person he perceives as his savior doesn't exist.

We see centipedes storm around and over Ivan on the cover.

Centipedes are venomous creatures, but their venom isn't strong enough to cause any harm to humans. Is it a reflection of how Ivan's love is? Poignant but not enough to seep through Till's skin?

Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

Creatures such as the centipede that moves on many legs are not to be eaten, for it is deemed sinful and abominable.

Ivan finds himself overstep the line that distinguishes love and lust towards the end of "cure" as he kisses Till without notice (here, the kiss shared between the two is an all-consuming representation of love), deeming his feelings to be sinful.

"a bug-like being that will not disappear even after death" could be a reference to how Ivan still continues to linger on Till's mind and lips long after his death. Creating a sense of eternity over Till's mouth.

On the cover, the word "parasite" is misspelled as "paratise," which sounds eerily similar to the word paradise. Perhaps, an indication of how the ANAKT Garden is. They cling to the garden as if parasites, and this in turn, creates a false sense of paradise, but it could also imply that Ivan has always felt alienated from the rest in regard to his impoverished upbringing. The stench that he grew up in is hard to get rid of, chasing him like a sewer rat that strives in one's discards.

Hi cuties, at the hike of my anticipation for the anime adaption of my favorite horror manga, I decided to re-read it. Having been struck by a particular panel this time around that truly left me gagged.

Description: "Hikaru" suggests to Yoshiki to explore his insides, piqueing his curiosity. They now find themselves in an evidently arousing situation where Yoshiki's hands rest on "Hikaru's" stomach, slowly uncovering his body.

Analysis: This scene sets the foundation for the relationship shared between Yoshiki and "Hikaru." They find themselves in a fairly erotic situation acknowledged by "Hikaru" in chapter 4 soon before he exposes his body to Yoshiki. "Hikaru," who is unfamiliar with human emotions, stands vulnerable before another, setting an uncomfortable but enticing premise for the viewer. The courage it takes to expose yourself before another human being is almost daunting but "Hikaru" allows for that to happen, because it's Yoshiki, the only one who has the right to see "Hikaru" in his open, most vulnerable state is Yoshiki for he's the only one to "love" him despite the truth of the evident monstrosity that finds shelter in his late friends body. Before, Yoshiki "Hikaru" doesn't ask to be clothed, differing from his interactions with other characters in the story. Yoshiki was horrified at the revelation, highlighting the unfamiliarity of the young boy with such unnervingly intimate experiences yet, later in the manga (chapter 10) he allows himself to explore "Hikaru's" insides once again. I view this craving to explore the insides of another being as an attempt to seek closure, the evident longing for intimacy that can not be brought by mere intercourse. "I wish to devour you for the sacredness of love that is all-consuming."
