lady melyse tei. a beautiful young noble woman, visiting illyria with other nobles from her homeland. it wasn't unheard of that she should get lost, and without a proper guide, the halls might all look the same to someone who did not live here. deucalion was willing to believe her. until she spoke of the gods sending her here...
"the gods?" he asked gently, a smile pulling at his lips. he let his hands drop, his doublet half open, revealing his shirt underneath. he turned towards her, taking a step in her direction. "...what makes you say that? did you ask the gods to bring you... to me?"
"i asked for the gods to guide me to safety. i think i am the safest i can be," her wholly naive demeanour had been endearing as a child but as an adult who had seen the tragedies of war in her home nation, it did not suit her. yet the gods had lead her to illyria, to safety, to a kingdom she considered mostly safe and with a king she did not have the pleasure of knowing but had heard wonderous things from the subjects of the kingdom if that was true, and not embellished by those trying to rise a rank she would never know. the urge to step back from the approaching king had been a thought her body did not comply with, to be seen as rude would most likely lower her standing, yet she could not help her pulse quicken at his action. "is it wrong to assume you are safe to be around? the gods have never deceived me before."
