Investiture Queen Wilhelmina
On September 6, 1898, a week after her eighteenth birthday, the investiture of Queen Wilhelmina took place in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) on Dam Square. From a covered walkway she went from the Palace to the church. After the investiture, the new Queen appeared on the balcony of the Palace The young Queen closed the day with a festive banquet in the Citizens’ Hall of the Palace.

Entry of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in Amsterdam
On October 9, 1811 Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Marie Louise made a great and imposing entry at the Palace during their visit to Amsterdam. A revenue of dignitaries began immediately after arrival. Napoleon and his wife spent the night in the Palace. The next day, the Emperor signed a series of decrees in the Palace, decrees of lasting significance for the Netherlands.

The Montelbaanstoren is a tower on bank of the canal Oudeschans in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The original tower was built in 1516 as part of the Walls of Amsterdam for the purpose of defending the city and the harbour. The top half, designed by Hendrick de Keyser, was extended to its current, decorative form in 1606. Since then the tower is 48m high.

Nederlandsche Cocaïnefabriek
The “Dutch Cocaine Factory” was an Amsterdam based company producing cocaine for medical purposes in the 20th Century. It imported its raw materials mainly from the Dutch East Indies and sold its products across Europe, making good profits especially in the early years of World War I. The factory produced morphine, heroin and ephedrineas well.
