↪ I like to think that Gunil is the least adventurous with his food compared to his other members. One thing about Gunil, though, when it’s the end of the month, and the budget is tight, he’ll always be lined up in front of the siomai stall. He can genuinely eat siomai with rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he wants to. His siomai would have what you normally expect: soy sauce and calamansi, but Gunil’s spice tolerance isn't the best, so he adds just enough chili garlic for him to sweat.

Siomai - a popular bite-sized dumpling, usually consisting of minced pork, shrimp, or beef, combined with extenders like carrots and garlic, all wrapped in a thin wonton wrapper.

Calamansi - A small, sour citrus fruit native to the Philippines (similar to a lime.)

𝙆𝙞𝙢 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙪

↪ As the foodie we all know, he definitely loves almost all street food, but I think he has a special place in his heart for isaw, both barbequed and fried. He won't shy away from dipping it in spicy vinegar either. He can easily eat stick after stick, and he wouldn't take it to go either. He’d eat the freshly cooked food beside the food stall, even if it's blazing hot out. He says its apart of the experience.

Isaw - A popular Filipino street food consisting of skewered and barbecued pig or chicken intestines. The innards are meticulously cleaned, boiled, and marinated before being grilled over hot charcoal on bamboo sticks

𝙆𝙬𝙖𝙠 𝙅𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙤𝙠

↪ Gaon has a big sweet tooth and kakanin such as biko and puto bumbong. He enjoys it especially when they load it up with all the sweet toppings like margarine, condensed milk, grated cheese, and leche flan. Jungsu also enjoys kakanin and often hangs out with Gaon to satisfy their cravings. When the Philippines gets hot and humid, Gaon will have Halo-Halo every day for his snack. He loves how all the ingredients taste when mixed and how he puts it, ‘cools his soul’. Quite a shame he has to face the consequences after eating (iykyk).

Kakanin - A collective term for traditional Filipino sweet rice cakes and desserts, mainly made with glutinous rice.

Biko - Traditional Filipino sticky rice cake made from glutinous rice, coconut milk, and dark brown sugar.

Puto Bumbong - A purple rice cake made by steaming a mixture og ground glutinous rice inside bamboo tubes.

Halo-halo - A Filipino shaved-ice sundae, the name translates to "mix-mix."

Leche Flan - Filipino dessert consisting of egg yolk custard with a layer of caramel syrup.

𝙊𝙝 𝙎𝙚𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙢𝙞𝙣

↪ O.de is a big fan of soups and stews, so during the rainy season, when the wind is cold, he often craves mami or lugaw. He often asks the stall downstairs to add extra chili on the side. O.de loves eating it in front of a window, where he can feel the cool wind, hear the patter of the rain, and smell that scent of nostalgia he can’t describe. It's quite a healing moment for him, and he uses it to relax and to take in the life around him. A reminder for him to live in the moment and enjoy the simpler things in life.

Mami - Filipino noodle soup consisting of wheat or egg noodles, a savory broth, and tender meat or wontons.

Lugaw - Thick, savory rice porridge or congee made by simmering glutinous or regular rice with water, ginger, and garlic.

𝙃𝙖𝙣 𝙃𝙮𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙟𝙪𝙣

↪ For no particular reason, Ilocos empanada and Taho fit Junhan so well. I can't even figure out why. Junhan would put a bit of vinegar on the empanada, not too much, though, as it tends to get a bit too spicy for him. He LOVES the crunch of all the ingredients and how they all taste together. Junhan definitely has Taho for breakfast for at least half the week. It’s not too sweet, and all the ingredients blend. For Junhan, taho is a perfect way to start his morning; it fills him up and gives him energy to practice guitar.

Ilocos empanada - A pastry filled with savory ingredients such as green papaya, bean sprouts, and egg.

Taho - A popular snack food made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal (sweetener and flavoring), and sago pearl (similar to tapioca pearl)

𝙇𝙚𝙚 𝙅𝙤𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙤𝙣

↪ He’s known for his love of meat and his disdain towards vegetables. I can't decide between chicken and pork barbecue and kikiam, so just assume he really enjoys both. He’s also a sauce lover; he drowns each skewer in sauce and enjoys every bite. He enjoys it especially when the kikiam is freshly fried and is still crispy. To be fair, I think everyone in xdh enjoys eating barbecue, but Jooyeons' love for it is on another level.

Filipino BBQ - Marinated meat, usually pork or chicken, grilled over charcoal on bamboo skewers.

Kikiam - Sausage-like fritter made with fish paste. Usually served with sweet, sour, and spicy sauce.

↪ His gifts are always something you’ve been wanting for ages, or something you mentioned to him once, and it stuck with him. He would get matching items with you, whether it be jewelry or clothes.

“Do you like it? Or do you prefer the other color? I'll use the one that you don't like.”

↪ Runs around out in the snow with you. Playing and having fun doing many activities, His favorite personally is just running around the snow trying the catch you, he enjoys how happy you look and sound as he chases you around in the cold weather.

“I almost got you now! I’ll plummet you into the snow, I swear!”

↪ Chats with you as you both are snuggled up near a fireplace, accompanied by a cup of hot chocolate. He drapes blankets and his scarves over you to warm you up, and occasionally, catches himself staring at you with the warm glow of the fire on your face.

“Are you feeling warm now…? It can get quite freezing outside. Best if you just stay right next to me.”

↪ Will refuse to watch any Hallmark Christmas movie that you show him and deems it “too cliché”, but gets extremely invested when you put on the movie anyway.

“Seriously?! Is the guy a moron? He’s just going to leave his girl in the freezing snow?! I hope you know, I’ll never do that, ever!”

↪ Bring you Christmas food that his mom made especially for you. Took him a lot of strength not to just take it himself; sadly, he values his mom's wishes.

“ My mum made this for you. Now, can we split it? Please?”

↪ He's surprisingly endearing during the holidays. During these times, he appears sweeter, more caring, and more worrisome. It hits your heart the right way, appreciating every moment of it.

“I love you. Y’know that?”

He says, snuggled up next to you, with his head on your shoulder.

↪ When you get sick during winter, he teases you lightly for having a weak immune system, as he proceeds to care for you. He would rather see you annoyed at him than see you sick and unwell.

“Geez, I knew your immune system was weak, but not this weak. Do you need anything? Are you feeling better…?”

He asks as he sits on the edge of your bed, patting your hair.
