(´。• ᵕ •。`) : talk about the fic that you enjoyed writing the most! and don't forget to link it in your response if it's published!
So far I've enjoyed writing Contact High the most--the Astrid/Ayo fic detailing their complicated relationship and their time on Feriae Junction between 29 and 30 ABY (note: I'm using the Legends depiction of the planet). This fic has produced the most fluid and character-driven dialogue of anything I've written, probably because they're all MY guys, so I don't have to work as hard to capture the voice. I already know it. Their interactions are just the right amount of gritty and real. Their emotions are volatile, the drama is juicy, the sex is sensual. I love it. But it basically is just a will-they-won't-they between a droidsmith (Astrid) who gives immense "retired assassin" vibes (because she is), and the emotionally damaged fighter pilot hopeful (Ayo) who developed a debilitating crush on her.
Unfortunately it's a fic cast entirely with OCs that begs the "why don't you just write your own damn book?" question, so. If I ever polish it, I'd only ever post on Ellipsus. I can't take it out of Star Wars and make it truly original without losing something integral, but I don't feel like it has any place on AO3 either (the metrics immediately make me feel like my story is bad by default if the numbers don't do well, and they won't for this kind of thing).
Σ(°△°|||): what's the sweetest inbox message you've received from a reader?
Someone on AO3 sent me a brilliant comment on Two Strangers that I still think about, saying it shouldn't be as hot as it is and how I ignited a need in them but I'm the sole dealer for this specific type of thing. Perks of being niche lmao. If I'm writing smut, I'm absolutely open to hearing how hot the reader thought it was. Like, that's literally why I created it. >:)
(□_□) : any advice on how to describe sex positions without explicitly using terms / names?
Write the way it feels. How are the muscles pushing, straining, potentially cramping in this pose? How is it affecting the motion, the speed, the intensity? Get analogical with it. How does the character feel being put in this position, or putting someone else into it? What's the dynamic?
That's the kind of thing I focus on when writing positions; where body parts are physically, how they feel, and how it's affecting the overall experience for the character whose POV I'm closest to. Using exact terms is almost always limiting. It may be that sometimes my scenes are hard to understand. That's the downside of highly sensual writing styles. It helps to have someone available who can look critically at your work, so you're not inadvertently creating Escher-esque sex scenes.
I should add, it helps to have an understanding of the pose in 3D space, however you want to do that.
