Julian looked up at the blonde with interest as she neared his little space only to look at her with wide eyes. Before him is a whole bunch of fruit covered in ink, various sketches, all of his pens. He sets the one in his hand down and then heâs straightening up, his teeth chewing at the inside of his cheek. Heâd done the one teeny tiny design on Kasey, but thatâd been his only instance of tattooing a real person so far. This wasnât just a friend though, this was Hippolyta, his technical boss, and someone who had been tattooing for years. âAre you sure?â He doesnât even try to hide his skepticism.
âWell, no. Actually, I just told you to give me a tattoo because of the kindness of my heart.â She rolled her eyes for a moment. âOf course Iâm sure. Plus, Iâm getting sick of seeing you tattooing fruits all day. I could be eating those, you know.â She sat down on the tattoo chair next to him and pulled up her shirt slightly. âItâs just going to be a small crescent moon. You think you can manage that?â Then she pointed to the spot where she wanted him to tattoo her right next to her panty line.
eliastaylcrâ:
âYou just wanted to do your own thing,â Elias guessed from Hippolytaâs explanation. One that was understandable. She was a headstrong woman, very much unlike him. A sigh escaped him and he buried his face against his knees. âI donât know,â he repeated, his favorite sentence to use from his vocabulary. âItâs just⌠we got engaged before he died. And it happened right after we had a big fight, one we never really talked about. And then when he was dead I slept with other people, but he didnât care. And I donât get it, because I always cared that he slept with others, but I arranged myself with that because he had to do it to survive. And now heâs some sort of monster, and Atlas said that a different kind of monster messed with my head and I feel like I canât tell him these things because Iâm afraid heâll get into more trouble or die again or that⌠I donât know. Iâm constantly afraid and worried. And thatâs not what I pictured being engaged to feel like. I thought I would be happy. But Iâm not.â
âBasically. It was harder to do that back then than it is now. I guess thatâs why Iâm happier now.â Hippolyta was happy where she was at this very moment. There was nothing she could complain about. Well, except for the fact that one of her dear friends was clearly distressed. She wasnât sure what had happened, but she didnât like it at all. It seemed there was a lot on Eliasâ mind and she wondered if this had been spoken about with his significant other. Nevertheless, Hippolyta always found herself in these positions. Listening to her friends vent to her was how she got through life. This situation was apparently no different. When he was done, she let out a sigh. Her hand went to easily grip his and then she looked up into his eyes. âIâm going to ask you one question and I want you to answer me with the first thing that comes to mind. The gut feeling you have, okay?â She squeezed his hand slightly. âDo you want to be in this relationship? Yes or no?â
eliastaylcrâ:
âThat was, like, a million years ago.â And certainly not how most marriages happened today anymore. At least in the world Elias lived in there werenât many arranged marriages, or marriages happening after only weeks of knowing each other. Most people seemingly stayed engaged forever. âWhat was your marriage like?â, he asked curiously. He knew her husband had been bad, but he didnât know many more details than that. âWhat? No.â It was a quick reply, and it ended with Elias rethinking his answer and correcting himself. âI donât know. Maybe.â
âHey, it was only two thousand. If it was like, a million years ago, I would definitely be a goddess.â Which she liked to think of herself as already, but it wasnât actually the case. All she was was a sphinx and she was kind of used to that now. Living her life until she died and had to stick to being a statue for a bit wasnât a horrible deal. After this life she had, she was sure she would absolutely cherish that solitude. âI donât know. It was just mediocre. I didnât hate my husband, but I hated that he couldnât stand that I wanted to be a soldier instead of a priestess. I just wanted to be more than what I was. Not to say being a priestess was bad, but it wasnât what I wanted.â Hippolyta was shocked to hear the answer to her question. âDo you not want to get married anymore? You know you can talk to me. Iâll give you as objective of an opinion as I can.â

âThatâs not long. Most people wait three or four years to even get engaged.â Sometimes it all felt differently to Elias though. Considering the time of their separation after he first found out Kaan was an incubus, to the time Kaan had been dead, to the ups and downs in between. It felt like a lifetime sometimes, both in an exhausting and in a good way, and sometimes it was hard to comprehend it had really mostly happened in the span of a year. âWith our luck, Iâm not sure weâll ever make it to the altar.â
âThatâs true. I guess Iâm just used to how it was when I wasnât a sphinx. I was just thrown into a marriage.â There was barely a big wedding. It was a marriage of convenience, but Hippolyta didnât care at the time. Of course, that was until she realized what an absolute asshole her husband was. It was horribly disappointing, but she was glad she had gotten out of it when she could. Even if it was at the expense of the rest of her family. âWell, whatâs that supposed to mean? Are you having second thoughts? Or are you nervous?â

âAlright, my dear Jules, I have a gift to give you today. And I think you will love it.â She grabbed the small little drawing she had done of a moon. It was simply, but it would be a good start. Line work was always something that people needed to learn when they were doing tattoos. Hippolyta thought Julian would be perfectly fine and doing such a thing. âYouâre going to give me a tattoo.â
leightonhaywood¡:
It occurs to him all of a sudden, there on the green couch, that there was a possibility this would be their last house together. He imagined, if things went well, that he and Mateo would move in together eventually. Hell, maybe Hippolyta would beat him to it, move in with Rafael and their third before that happened. Looking at her, he canât help but think of all the places theyâve gone, all the flats, all the waiting heâs done while sheâd been behind the veil. How heâd welcomed her home every time sheâd come back. Theyâd been constants in each otherâs lives for so long, she was his person, and perhaps when theyâd first met, theyâd both been looking for that stability, for someone to lean on. âYouâre a great cook, what are you talking about?â Leighton gives a light shake of his head and offers a soft chuckle, smiling at her fondly. âIâm happy for you, truly.â
Hippolyta didnât like the possibility that Leighton would want to move out eventually. Nor did she like the possibility of her ever moving out. No. They would be roommates for as long as they both lived. She wasnât going to have any other roommates even if they were her partners. Leighton was technically her partner, right? Her platonic partner, but still one nonetheless. What would she do without him? She knew she could survive if he wasnât around, but she didnât want to. She didnât think that was a bad thing to want to be near your best friend all the time. She had always had him and they would always have each other. They just bought a house for fuckâs sake. There was no way that was changing anytime soon, but it was something to think about. For the future. And she hated it. âWho are you trying to fool, Leighton? I suck at cooking. Youâre a vampire. You donât even eat to know that my food is good.â She looked up at him from under her lashes. âIâm happy for you, too. Iâve got a knife at your neck though if you try to leave me.â
eliastaylcrâ:
âSee, but that just means you have no idea what others really think.â Hippolyta was absolutely biased, and it was part of the reason why Elias loved her. She always made him feel like he wasnât as bad as he thought he was. âYou make it sound like we already got married. Itâs just a dog, Hippo.â
âI donât particularly care what others think. And neither should you.â Hippolyta actually did need validation, but she wasnât going to say that out loud. It wasnât about her though. It was a similar situation, but she knew Elias and her thought very differently. She was always willing to understand his side of things though. âI mean youâre basically married, arenât you? Youâve been together so long. Over a year is like a century in my eyes.â
anemosofnyxâ:
                            ~ TIME SKIP. ~Â
They enjoy the time after with their beloved almost as much as the sex that preceded it. To bask in Hippolytaâs presence is a pleasure all in itself, the sphinx is as golden as her hair and shines just as warmly as the sun. It is something Anemos could stand in all day, and never become tired of it. Their hand reaches out, stroking against her face gently as a smile of fondness settles over their lips. âI do like the couch,â they say playfully, leaning in to kiss her. It currently holds them both, lounging in an embrace as the setting sun creeps in through the window. Itâs a cozy setting, and though the spirit does not tire, they would not mind remaining like this with her all evening. âBut there is little that would not look magnificent, with you atop it.â Anemos is of the opinion that Hippolyta could make anything look good, simply because she wills it. Their hand trails upwards on her face until it reaches her forehead, thumb smoothing against her forehead as if to rub away any troublesome thoughts. âHow are you feeling now, my love?â
There wasnât much she felt couldnât impress her about Anemos. The comfort she felt within them felt much like being home in Sparta with the right person. Or the right spirit, she guessed she could say. It had been several centuries where she had been alone, the only memory of a relationship being the one she had been given on a silver platter. It hadnât been hard to believe she was worth something more in a place like Sparta. In her place, she was to be a priestess, but she always knew there was more for her. The fact that she couldnât get that was enough for her to build enough walls up between her and anyone who wanted to get to know her. Unfortunately, for her, she let people in far too easily. Friendships were easier for her to come by than anything else though. But her insecurities seemed to fade away so often around Anemos and Rafael that it seemed like they had been handmade for her. The two of them had been given to her on a silver platter and had given her words that made her feel like she was worth so much more than she gave her credit for. Hippolyta was always someone that put up a front that she was better than those around her, but it was never how she truly felt. She wished it was, but it hadnât always been that way. And she hadnât wanted to be the kind of person that depended on someone else to make her feel something, but she couldnât help it when she was constantly telling herself otherwise. âI wish you could clear my thoughts like that every single day,â she said as her head tilted upwards to them, a small smile reaching her lips. Then they reach their chin, her mouth pulling away a moment later. âI wish I had you sooner.â
