I needed this
This is my Nanna and Pa in about 1967, they met when my nanna was 15 and my pa was 16 at a music festival, and strangely enough they were both wearing the exact same colored clothes. I’m not exactly sure what happened after that, but I do know that after about a month of being together, my Pa gave my nanna a friendship/love ring, imprinted on it “Janis Brown-Neaves* IWLF” *my nannas name, what did IWLF stand for? ‘It Will Last Forever’. There love did last forever, my nanna passed away on the 9th of March 2013, after battling cancer for 14 years. 5 days before she passed, she got told she only had two weeks left. My pa did not leave her side once, he didn’t sleep, barely ate, he stuck by her side holding her hand even when she got to the stage where she couldn’t talk or open her eyes. She wore her friendship/love ring from my Pa every day of her life, and passed away wearing it. Out of all of the love stories I’ve heard about, my Nanna and Pas story is by far my favourite.

African American doctors attempting to save the life of a Klu Klux Klan member:
This photo left me speechless, this is what respect is.
this is what grace is
oh….shit..
wow…
I never scroll pass this photo.. This is humanity, a lot of people can learn from this picture.
First - this isn’t a real picture of a real event- it’s an advertisement.
Second, let’s talk about the fact that if it were real, this would mean that the hospital staff lives in a place where people are rolling in full Klan regalia - guess what MIGHT happen if that guy died and what the Klan might decide to do to them and their families?
The idea that Black people are magically full of love for white people, infinitely suffering, and willing to do anything for white people is a trope white people loved to create and push up since slave times. The ever-loyal slave, ex-slave, magical negro, mammy, best buddy, sassy black friend trope is not new.
The Kumbayah Myth is something folks love to buy into and look how this picture sets the bar as a set of behavior for Black people… no demands are being made about behavior for the white guy.
The supposed “beauty” in this photo half these people are fawning over is it creates a situation where the best of Black people- the smartest most compassionate, are put in servitude to the worst of White people. They’re not celebrating humanity, they’re celebrating that whiteness is still the most important thing in this picture.
Every. Single. Word. Bankuei. Said.
Took 5 tabs of acid (first time doing it ever) and my friend gave me a bunch of acrylic paint. Painted it with my fingers tripping out of my mind. Also I’m colorblind, and don’t work with abstract work at all (I only have ever done drawing). Thought this was pretty wacky.

Juliet is a metaphor for an Oscar.
Only for that comment
never.

“Enchanted River - Phillipines
‘NO ONE HAS EVER REACHED ITS BOTTOM’ Enchanted River is found in the Phillipines. It is called “enchanted” because no one has ever reached its bottom. Many people, including scuba divers have tried reaching for the bottom but have failed, hence the legend of its bottomless pit. Moreover, locals share that NOBODY has been successful in catching the fish in this river, whether by hand or by spear. They say its bluish color is a result of its depth and the water clarity changes throughout the day. At around 12:00pm, the water becomes clearer and even more majestic.
