Are you not being extra with having to message me about this? But let’s see here.. There are two things incredibly wrong with your statement. That I’m being “extra” and that this whole thing is “just a joke”. 

To counteract both points, no, I’m not being extra, but you know who is? Himchan’s members. I don’t acknowledge all the receipts that are out there about the countless times they’ve put him down for gaining weight, but they are one too many. 

How would you feel if the people you surround yourself with the most constantly brought up your insecurities in public and online? And if you were to speak to them privately (I’m sure Himchan has done so at least once), they brush it off like it’s “just a joke”, that it doesn’t mean anything. Tell me, how would you feel about that? And what if they consistently make these comments every time they want to nitpick at you? Whenever you’d joke around about them, they’d spin it right back and display your weakness for all to see? Tell me, really, how would you take that?

Now let’s just say, for argument’s sake, it is “just a joke”. Well.. you don’t see me laughing. Only because it’s not funny at all. Especially accounting for Himchan’s history with his weight and body image issues. You would think that being in the same group, having lived in the same dorm, spending how many hours a day together, they would be more sensitive around this topic, but alas, it appears not.

Being fat is OK. Being chubby is OK. Gaining weight is OK.  Thinking you can tell someone about what to do with THEIR body is NOT OK. Suggesting that they need to diet because they aren't "healthy" is NOT OK. Teasing someone and putting them down over an insecurity you are fully aware of them having is NOT OK.

I am absolutely sick and tired of the kpop community (artists and fans alike) being unbearably horrible to idols who aren't idealistically and stereotypically thin.

But the fact that your own group members are saying these kinds of things about you? Knowing perfectly well that you have a history of suffering with your body image and eating disordered tendencies? Putting you down online, and also shockingly on TV?

I'm literally seething with anger and extraordinarily disappointed. Being part of the same group, but moreso being Himchan's friend you would know not to say these kinds of remarks. And yet.. here we are.
