there seems to be an oblivious debate around “asian men being marketed as sex symbols being a new thing and we’re all for it” when in reality that sounds like that one shady ‘we only started to appreciate desi girls because oh... tyla has cute fans in india??’ trend if you can call it that, and also ignorant of the obvious impact by early south korean icons like RAIN and jaejoong, taemin, a whole host of world famous j-pop/rock legends, vintage actors like sessue hayakawa, countless bollywood and c-drama stars, what bts’ jimin has been doing for quite a while as well as jungkook, how NCT brought forth faces like taeyong and jaehyun, how stray kids’ hyunjin is the literal definition of a modern fashion/sex icon for years now, or a softer but nevertheless heat-fuelled figure skating version of an elegant sex symbol, yuzuru hanyu. most of them have a tremendous reach and following. the post would overflow if i named all examples from all asian countries and went even further back in time. like have people been living under a rock entirely? you literally just have to detangle worth & beauty and keep your eyes open to aura being everywhere ever since and it not being a surprise ever.
