Ultimately an insufficient and frankly cowardly ruling. If the court recognizes that Israel’s actions in Gaza may constitute violations of the Genocide Convention, and that Palestinians represent a protected group in Gaza, how can they sidestep the obvious remedy to the violations which is to order a cessation of military action? Better than I feared, worse than I hoped. The ICJ and the UN continue to prove their insufficiency in the face of modern genocide.
