Matthew, pulling out all the god damn research he’s done on insects out of boredom: oh you haven’t heard?))

“Dude carebears are for kids, grow up. they’re creepy on their own, like tellytubbies and barney. Moths are insects, and if you knew anything about insects you’d know just how scary they would be if they were giants again.”

“You know there are a whole bunch of giant moths out there right? The atlas moth, for example, can have a wingspan of up to 11.8 inches, or if you want to be the biggest nerd possible, 30 centimeters. now imagine that flying at your head at high speeds. Imagine there being an undiscovered species of moth the size of a human? how terrifying would that be?”

“he’s usually seen right before disaster too, should we have called him ‘disasterman’ then? Birdman sounds more like a lame demon you’d find haunting a bridge, Mothman sounds a lot more fitting when you realize no one even knows what he actually is. All we have are drawings of him that are just silhouettes with big glowing eyes, we have no idea what he looks like aside from a vague bird shape.” 

“Mothman only shows up long enough for someone to spot him while driving and then he’s on his merry way, possibly back into the forest. Not to mention, he’s never depicted as a giant moth, he’s more of like, a giant owl with human legs, and last i checked owls don’t like lights. Though the concept of a giant moth creature being in a city just for the lights is pretty funny”

“well they might make a solo film for miles at a later date. right now they’re working on an animated film with some of the most iconic spideys, but from the trailers i’ve seen Miles is the focus for that one” Matt mused, he loved animated films as much as he did super hero films. “but i can kinda see why they wanna do a movie for silk first”

“My... Family doesn’t know I’m doing this...” he would be dead if his mom found out he’s the one going around fighting crime. “They wouldn’t be really happy to know I’m fighting bad guys either.” he rubbed the back of his neck, refusing to make eye contact with the villain at this point. he felt like he was going to be scolded for anything at any moment now. “You know how parents can get.” 

“Do i seriously look that young?” the teenager asks. he’d been doing this for a while and no one had ever said he looked too young to be a hero. “I mean, i thought literal fire breathing was something that wasn’t considered childish” was it the outfit? it was probably the outfit. man he probably should’ve spent more time making it look nice, but, what else was a high schooler to do on such short notice on a school night?

“So you mean another great addition to the spider-verse?” Matt smiled, he really loved all of the spider-man comics, hopefully Silk was just as great as the other iterations of everyone’s favorite web slinger. “it’d actually be fun to see some of the other spiders on the big screen besides Peter and Venom”
