alma had been surprised, to say the least when she had caught word that henley reeves was in paris and apparently performing, of course, she had gotten a ticket. after working on the horseman case, alma had become even more fascinated with illusionism and everything that did but upon hearing that the show had been cancelled, she had decided to pay a little visit backstage to the red haired.
“bonjour, i am starting to feel a bit offended. i was not the one that arrested you the first time and i am not here to do that either—i came to see the show and heard that had been cancelled and as for lunch i do not see why not.”
A gentle smile arose along red lips as she nodded her head at the correction. Although, Henley still counted that; personally it was just because she was in the room but that was in the past now. Like The Eye so it didn't matter to her either way and as long as she was in the clear she saw no reason to hold hostility towards Alma. After all Henley was in her home now so she had no right anyways. "Forgive me then, I just assume all of you work in unison to orchestrate the arrest of harmless magicians." She smirked slightly before proceeding to speak on the topic of lunch. "Well, given I'm now out of work do you mind showing me a nice place? I hardly speak French and what I do know wouldn't be useful. Danny always used to take care of these trips and organize down to a T so I'm a bit; out of my element since I'm a solo act again."
He scoffed. The last few weeks were starting put strain on all of them. He shifted one card behind the other thinking of exactly the right thing to say to her. She was right, they all joined the Eye thinking they’d be making a difference and it just seemed like they waited for Dylan to come and tell them what to do.
Danny’s teeth were tugging on his lower lip before he slammed his deck down on the table in front of him. He walked around and grabbed Henley’s hand. “Well if you’re bored Henley, let’s fix that.”
He didn’t want to talk about what he expected from The Eye, or what she was wanting him to admit. Distraction— it had always worked on her before. “ Let’s get out of here and do something fun. How does that sound, I’m sure there’s something we can find to do.”
Eyes rolled at the dramatics of the card slamming. It was obvious everyone was starting to get annoyed with the impatient nature Henley had begun to wear. But, who could truly blame her- they were promised one thing and another was delivered. Besides, waiting on Dylan was starting to get rather old and she was beginning to wonder if any of this was even legitimate. Fingers laced with his tightly as she nodded softly at the idea to fix the boredom but that also came with a limit. They weren't exactly allowed to just go out and party; that would give away their cover of better mastering their skills and of course another lecture from Dylan would be queued. "As long as we don't get a lecture from Dylan, please." Another nod at his words before squeezing his hand gently. For a moment mulling over his actions and words, he was trying to get the topic to change as well as meet what she was complaining about. Misdirection and distraction; she decided to let it slide like she usually did because she was in no mood to deal with an annoyed Daniel. "Well then lead the way Danny, you're always the man with a plan."

He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to him. “If you were still my assistant Henley, I would just send you out for my dry cleaning and coffee. Wait, maybe I should just send you and then I can sit here and watch Merritt make a fool out of himself.”
"Surprise I still have a few tricks up my sleeve and the sarcasm I think is because I've been hanging around Merritt too much." Playfully leaning her head against his shoulder then rolled her eyes as a few memories resurfaced and her head shook. Pulling her body away from him her head nodded before walking towards the door. "Well I'm going out either way, and if you don't come I'm not getting you anything."

He looked down at her, his lips almost parting into a smile. Her long red hair cascaded across his lap as she shifted from his arm. She was so beautiful and it was so hard to control anything that had to do with her. Reaching out for a moment, he ran his fingers through her soft hair.
“Merritt huh? When did you start having a thing for old men? I thought you had more class than that Henley.”
The words weren’t what he wanted to say to her. He wanted to tell her that he never wanted her to move but those feelings he wasn’t willing to tell anyone especially her. “and if you’d rather a second rate hack like Jack well I guess you’ll have to go find him. I’m pretty sure he’s off still trying to show Merritt how to toss a card.”
Danny huffed, “just stay put. You seriously need to get some rest Henley. You’re looking—- tired.”
Feeling only the smallest tug in her hair she couldn't resist the slightest upturn of her lips. But quickly it fell to an annoyed frown at his words. Of course it was what she had expected this was Daniel after all and she knew not to expect anything but the words he had truly spoken. The way she heard them and interpreted them she could though, and with that she knew it was a defense and wall. "Oh, ouch insulting my class Danny. Coming from you that doesn't mean a lot, remember I saw those anonymous posts on my website." It didn't take a genius to figure out that it was in fact him posting on her site the most random of things an occasional compliment or an insult or a tear down but she was only teasing. The evidence to prove that was the grin on her lips. There was a small laugh before she raised a hand dismissing the speaking of their partners. "Sounds like they're on a nice date I should leave them." She smirked before setting her hand back against her stomach. "And what about you? You look about the same as me. You should sleep too, you know-." There was a brief pause in her words before eyes opened and she carefully looked up to him studying his face for a second. "You know I'm worried about you."

Stopping cold in her tracks arms crossed over her chest as an eyebrow rose slightly before turning back to face him. “Really?” She inquired brow raising before arms shifted and hands found their place along her hips. It had been a while since they started working together; and frankly Daniel was starting to become a bit of a control freak to say the least. Getting fed up once again with one of his ‘insults’ if they could even be called that Henley had yelled at him before deciding it was best to split ways with him and leave to start her own act. After all, why let someone else do something you could do better. “What happened to romance and magic not mixing? Or does that only happen when I tell you how I feel because you can’t handle it?” A pause as her expression softened slightly gaze shifting to the floor. “You can’t spit that out when I decide I am leaving, it isn’t going to work.” Although she was saying it wouldn’t, she knew it would. It would most definitely work because no matter how much denial and lying she did to herself she had fallen for him. That included the times he insulted her but right now, she needed to come off at least somewhat like a strong willed person. Even if it contradicted what she truly wanted, she needed to test him.
