OH GOD.
NORA. WAS. TERRIFIED. MORE THAN SHE HAD EVER BEEN, PROBABLY ACTUALLY SHE THOUGHT. Shadows were darting around EVERYWHERE. Speaking of shadows she couldn’t tell all that good but she thought the trees’ shadows were all spinning and that the moon was slightly larger in the night sky. Then again she was probably going crazy or something because a lot of bullshit was going on at the moment. Second. Whatever.
“Nora…”
A familiar, echoing voice.
“NORA!!!!”
“MOM!?” Nora cried out, horrified tears streaming down her face. Her vision blackened at the edges. She was so scared… so scared… God… oh god… her legs were getting tired. She couldn’t breathe. She wanted to go back. This wasn’t worth it. She shouldn’t have left her home. Her tent. With her bed. Her stuff. At least she brought her backpack… and filled all her pockets… ‘cargo pants are amazing.’ She thought, trying to calm down. Wait. Did she bring… oh god. oh god. She missed her mom. Her hands were shaking.
Her hands were shaking.
“Be not afraid, for I am near.”
She remembered. “OKAY… OKAY… JUST…” she choked out, trying to steady her breathing. Her body. “For mom… just… keep going…” she closed her eyes, slowing her pace. She eventually came to a stop, though she didn’t know how long it took. “You’re ok… it’s ok…” she stood there, calming herself for some time. She opened her eyes. Everything was… normal. Well, as normal as a forest at night could be. She let out a long sigh. “I… think it’s about time for a rest.” She climbed a tree, sleeping in it’s branches with her backpack as her pillow.
