we were on a walk uphill after rolling down, they said something like "I'd love to be on all fours right now running back up, this would be so much easier",, like talking about quadrobics basically,, and I visibly flinched and then after i'm like "hehh yeah that'd be so much better" they turn to me and were like "are you cool with therians too or just furries?" i got nervous but said yes ofc and then I was like "well I have a confession actually,,, nevermind" cuz yk I was nervous. but later on in the night we talked about it again and I was beating around the bush, but then they said "are you a therian? because if you are that is not even a big deal" most of my exes have either never found out or found out and thought i was weird. i had an alterhuman ex who invalidated a lot of my experiences, so this was a big thing for me, now I can finally be my true self around my partner <3

Some people think that commenting these things are helping our community “find themselves”. They are not. They are actively harming the therian community and its members.

Part of what makes identifying as a non-human creature so wonderful is the diversity of experiences that others bring into the community.

Being a cat doesn’t look the same for every cat, for example. It’s easy to get swept up in trending songs that a popular cat therian is doing, but you aren’t required to participate as a cat yourself. Some cats don’t like fish, some cats work grueling full-time jobs, some cats identify as a cat and leave it as that.

The most powerful someone can be is at their most authentic self, and social media is a harsh landscape for being authentic. Success in numbers is a give and take - to be widely liked is to be a figure that can do no wrong, that can make everyone smile.

I AM MY KINTYPE. That's what non-humanity is about. It's not "a strong connection", it's not only a past life or an aesthetic, it's litterally all/any/some level(s) of your identity. Who you are. What you are. You absolutely can feel human to some extent, and that's OK. But if you don't feel like you ARE your kintype on any level (which disqualifies you from non-humanity), then you are just... human

And if you think I'm just "playing pretend?" Who cares? I'm not, but why do you care so much? Is it because you think I'm having fun, that I never stopped imagining, playing, creating? And why is this your business, anyway?
