When able to get a look outside of the man’s home, the boy was finally hit with the familiar scenery. As he leans over the porch railing to gaze out at the mountains and endless plain where he could spot wild pokemon grazing, he notices that this didn’t look far at all from where he last remembered being. What was unfamiliar to him was a wooden fence around the front yard, and a long dirt road running further than he could see. He had an urge to follow it.
“Where does that go?”
Antoine was standing nearby, keeping an eye on the kid in case he thought to run before he got any proper answer out of him. He turns his attention to the road and nods,“That is the path to civilization, mon petit. Town is only a ten-minute drive, an hour walk. If you are feeling up for it later, we can make a trip and purchase some groceries. How does that sound?”
There’s a moment’s pause from the boy as he thinks on the man’s words. “What is town?”
Yet another question that only further gave Antoine more questions, despite how simple the answer is. Overcome with curiosity, and slight annoyance, Antoine has to keep from dropping his composure in front of this unworldly child.
“You are a box of mysteries, petit garcon. I’m starting to think you have either lost your head, or you grew up in the wild! Mais non, you can not have, even as strange as you are, you speak well and you do not dress in rags. So, how is it that you can remember to walk and talk, but you can not remember your name, what towns are, or how to eat?”
As expected, he’s not met with a straight answer, but he notices an uncomfortable look on the boy’s face before he turns away.
It doesn’t look like he’s going to get an answer out of the kid anytime soon, no matter how much he pushes. But whether the boy is suffering from a great case of amnesia, or he’s hiding something, it does neither of them any good if Antoine gets angry about it.
He rubs his forehead and sighs, okay, they’ll play by the child’s rules. “D’accord, d’accord...I will not ask again. But if anything comes to you that you think I should know, do not be afraid to tell me, ah?”
This earned a tentative nod, and in a small voice, he points out,“You have not told me what a town is.”
Sigh,“You are right, mon petit. I shall correct this...but how about instead of describing, I show it to you...”
