So I'm re-watching Miraculous and I have some questions.
I started from season 3 because I used to watch it on tv when I was little and I remembered the first two seasons quite well.
And actually I was sort of scared because I really liked it when I was a kid, and I was afraid that watching it now would ruin that memory. But I found out what happened in the latest seasons and curiosity got the better of me.
I was really surprised because I liked season 3 more than I expected. It wasn't a mind-blowing show, but still, I liked it.
And then I started season 4. And the more I watched it, the more I could only describe it as bad.
It still had some nice episodes (like the season finale, Gabriel Agreste and Wishmaker). But overall, it just felt tiring.
Almost every episode was just an excuse to show off all the other Miraculous because hey, there are more than the seven I showed you until now, so let's just give them away like candies, one after the other.
And then it became so suffocating that even Adrian-the-most-submissive-being-ever-Agreste went to Ladybug and said "So, it's like 20 episodes that I am completely useless (both as Chat Noir and Adrian) if not to buy you time so you can go get some other teenager and give them a shiny jewel and then let them do my job in my stead. You now what? Take the ring back."
And even then, when Ladybug finally realises that she needs Chat Noir because they are a duo (and because the show is called "the tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir", but it didn't really seem to matter this season), the reward to the viewer is literally one line of dialogue in which she says to him that he's her favourite, only to keep giving away Miraculous like nothing has happened.
With that said, I really can't explain how relieved I was that, in the finale, Félix gave Gabriel almost all the Miraculous (Félix one of the two characters who has a brain, the other being Nathalie), only because it meant that Ladybug couldn't give them away anymore.
And, as expected, the first two episodes of season 5 were so much better.
Because I'm not watching this show for some rushed character storylines (Zoé was almost embarrassing) or senseless episodes (Ephemeral and Penal Team were embarrassing). But because I want to see the story of Ladybug and Chat Noir.
And while I understand that, at some point, they needed to show what all the other Miraculous did, I think this was one of the worst ways they could do it.
And finally, my question is, is it just me? Or was season 4 a let-down for everyone even when it first came out?
