Tita Cely
July 3 2017- she was formally diagnosed with a stage three cancer. One that has metastasize from her lungs to a lump on her shoulders that she dismissed since December.
Araceli is the third daughter of Francisco and Pilar Solmiano. She didnβt get a chance to get married or have her own children. She did however was assigned or she took over being a parent when their sister died years ago of colon cancer. She was strict and scary as an auntie but she was known in her town as a socialite. She knows everything thats happening with everything.
I stayed for a few months with her when i didnβt know which college i was attending and when my parents didnβt know what to do with me during my rebellious times. She got me a job as a waitress in her friendβs restaurant.
She was there on my 18th birthday when my mom threw me the biggest party of my life. My bff remembers her as my dark skinned aunt who calls me Jin-Jin.
I was not her favorite when i was a little girl. She was fond of Maria. I was always trying to get her to like me. And then MAria went away and forgot her.
Some summers we would stay in Virac. I had my first obsessive crush there. I had my first sari-sari store there. She let me have a small store in the hut in front of the house.
I remember her recipe for eggplant with sautΓ©ed shrimp. And the crabs with coconut sauce and malunggay from her tree that she makes when we arrive for vacation.
I remember how she was always fond of dresses.
She was one my my momβs favorite sisters.
I need to go see her before God takes her back. I donβt know how im going to do it. Im broke with no savings.
