"Woof."
₡ommon ₠nts | Sean
"Right, that’s true…" Atlus nodded a little, embarrassed he’d said something like that. But, well, he could try fixing it too. "But you know, you’re welcome to come by my house for dinner anytime you’d like. It’s the very least I can do for someone who saved my life." He smiled, looking over at Sean. "I’m sure Alvin and Red won’t mind one bit. Have you met either of them yet?"
Talking to Sean was quickly becoming less and less… well, stressful. He didn’t have to try too hard to guess what he really meant when he spoke, and his tone was most level. Atlus knew he’d annoyed him, but he had been pretty relaxed about having him tag along again. That was nice. “And, ah, browsing is good too. I do plenty of that, myself… I usually look at the flowers, though. I, ah… I’m into gardening. It’s a hobby of mine, and it’s very relaxing… what kind of things do you do in your free time?” He laughed slightly. Kind of a cheesy question, but a question nonetheless. Atlus didn’t like only talking about himself, after all; it was best to listen, too.
Outside of the socialization that Ted's Talk offered, no, Sean had not bumped into either Alvin or Red. He chose to raise his shoulders in a non-committal gesture. To say that he had never met them would be a lie, but to say that he knew either person very well wasn't the truth either. "I guess. It'd be nice if I could borrow the shower." He'd save a few bucks that way, bumming off of Atlus and co. instead of springing for a gym membership. Good plan. "Better run the idea with your roommates first. There's nothing more awkward than finding a stranger in your apartment, especially one who isn't armed to rob." 'cause if you killed the guy, could you really opt for the self-defense charge?
"I see those green thumbs of yours." Sean, who had tucked his hands away, poked his own thumbs out and wiggled them like fat little sausages. His pulled his attention away from Atlus and eyed the wares out for sale. Him and his height sort of naturally carved a path through the sea of faces. "I knit and sew. Sometimes I cook or clean. I used to look after a lot of orphans. I was basically the de facto big brother of the group. I guess I like home-y things." Which wasn't a lie, actually. There was something calming about the repetition of making stitches and coming up with an end product for all that trouble.
{Closed; Sean} Drop in Visit
"Is that so? May I request a few of those impressive occasions soon then?" He teased, mood lightened by the music and the banter. That was a fast recovery from the earlier downturn, but he didn’t mind the swift change of tone. The whole point of it was not to dwell, and the thought of Sean in a suit did wonders for the mind.
"Sean all you have to do is as-", but Alfendi was cut off by the murmuring in -and proceeding nip of- his ear. His cheeks almost went as dark as his hair as he gave a small shudder. How unfair, catching him off guard like that and then pulling away, though he supposed Sean never was the type to play fair to begin with. The inspector cleared his throat and finished, "Was to ask to not have any in yours. I would’ve obliged; I’m just used to making it this way-"
"And are you sure that’s the only thing you like plain?" A smirk suddenly spread as his eyes flashed. Uh oh.
It would be a date. Soon. Once the two of them got settled and squared away the whole 'new city' ordeal, they could pick a spot and do something fun for a change. God knows they could use the reprieve.
The change in Alfendi's tone made him pause. Sean tucked his hands away in his pockets before replying, "Well, there's always an exception to the rule. You're not gonna give me anymore context to work with, huh?" He had a vague feeling that the other Al was hinting at some sort of innuendo, but he didn't want to take the bait only to be laughed at.
₡ommon ₠nts | Sean
"Is it really?" Atlus’ expression softened, as he looked back at Sean. "I see… well, it’s nice that you’ve settled in. I’m glad for you." he decided to just smile, not wanting to press Sean too far.
Atlus wondered what kind of place Sean might’ve come from, to say something like that. Probably not a good one… likely a terrible one. This city was okay, he supposed, but… there were a lot of things that were very very wrong with it, too. Demons, the horrid gap between the rich and the poor, the suffocating walls, the military’s strict policies… this was a very peculiar place. And the homesickness really did get to some people… though maybe not to him. Not anymore…
"Oh, uhm… well, I don’t think so." I guess I should’ve been more clear. But maybe he doesn’t want to talk about that… "I’m happy just window-shopping with good company. Are you out to buy a lot of things? Maybe dinner?" he laughed a little.
Sean didn't believe in hand-outs. Things were unfair and the only way to address that from his perspective was to get out there and fight for what you needed. If that meant breaking the law to get ahead of others, so be it. That was what it took to survive, and he didn't care who hated him for his individualistic attitude. Survival of the fittest, was what they said.
"If I bought dinner here, you think I'd have space to prepare it?" Slums, dude. Not exactly sanitary to be chopping up fish in a dunghole like that. "Nah, I'm browsing." To be honest, Sean was eavesdropping under the guise of window-shopping.

Now Hiring} Closed;Sean
Descole spent yet another night spent stalking the slums. Honestly as much as it condition repulsed him, he spent more and more time here, aimlessly wandering and recruiting desperate people with potential. Offering them a small sliver of kindness went a surprisingly long way considering how so many were starved in more ways than one. As a result it was somewhat easy to sway them to his side, and his efforts were going well.
Tonight, however, Jean was seeking someone in particular. The contacts that he’d had so far had pointed him toward a man of many monikers (not unlike himself) whose skills at reconnaissance seemed highly promising. The only difficulty he’d met with so far was actually locating him. So he’d dropped a couple hints in shadier public areas in the hopes that the potential new ally would come find him, especially since he was promising a fair amount of pay for his services.
There had been no sign of the man so far, but something told him that he could be being watched. After all, you don’t go around talking about money without drawing attention. He set a hand on the hilt of his foil. Unfortunately the thing was good for little outside of practice, but more than likely most of the people dwelling here would not be able to tell the difference. Whoever it was would not come out until they wanted to, and he’d just have to be a prepared as possible. With any luck it’d be the very gentleman he was looking for.
"If anyone is out there- which I highly suspect there is- may I request that you come out so we talk, or otherwise, face to face?"
A low chuckle rumbled from the back of his throat neither strained nor censored. There was something reminiscent of a madman, or at least a fellow who had dropped his moral compass, in that deep rumble of a greeting. From the depths of an alleyway emerged a man of flaxen hair and fair complexion bearing eyes of Envy's flair. He kept his hands pocket for one, two, three steps... then drew out a clothed hand as if sharing a business card - only there was no written information to be passed out. Just a handshake to tell all.
As the gesture passed between them, Sean said his first words to the man (arguably) in costume: "Judd Sicarius, at your service. How many I tempt you into parting with your coin tonight, sir?" Though his lips were pulled taut, trained into giving little away, his intonation rose and fell like that of a symphony, melodious. There was a guise of class about this man who had been raised among rags and rugrats. He knew how to emulate his clientele if nothing else.
The name Sean used between transactions never quite mattered. If he was half as good as people believed, wanting folks would find him. It served him well that his stain of the past held no ties to Thalassian society nor law; he was a phantom and the opera of politics his audience.
ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Sasuke & Sean
Sasuke kept quiet for a minute or so while Sean spoke, finally sipping his tea while he listened. Not the best thing he’d ever tasted, but about as passable as he’d expected. What he had to say, though… huh. Now there was something he hadn’t considered.
"In other words, these demons may not be as malicious as they make them out to be." Or maybe they were. He had no doubt of their prowess once provoked, at least. "I agree, it does sound a bit far-fetched, but that would explain some of the fuss over those cores." He had to set his tea down again, though. Something about it all left a bad taste. "I make no promises, but I’ll see if I can dig up anything more on the subject."
Right, Sasuke wasn't much of a gamer. Everything that Sean had just said probably went right over his head. Unless... unless the man had spent some time getting into the fine hobby of gaming. Well, they would have to rectify that, wouldn't they? (If only the word 'rectify' didn't make Sean think of 'rectum' because he is 12 and what is this.) "That's not exactly what I said..." Demons not a threat? Sure, the military breathing down their necks was terrifying, but monsters were kind of a big deal, too.
"We'll keep each other posted." Reaching for Sasuke's hand, Sean drew on the shinobi's palm his address. Information was better guarded when kept in the head instead of spelled out on a scrap of paper ready for anyone to stumble upon. Sean held his own hand out, waiting for Sasuke to do the same. Him and his little quirks were non-standard enough that anyone watching would think he and Sasuke were playing some sort of schoolground game with each other. Bunch of homosexuals tainting this here fair city of Thalassia, tsk, tsk.
ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Jackie & Sean
Jackie suddenly became slightly suspicious. That was a bit odd of the Stuttering Stanley to say. “Did your stutter get removed or somethin’? But that doesn’t matter, we gotta chase after that guy, and fast. I’ll go on ahead, follow me if you want.” Jackie hit his hostage over the head a couple times with the butt of his pistol, and took the other robber and did the same. “Alright, time to find this asshole.” Jackie ran after the other robber, both guns in hand.
It took about 5 minutes to find the other guy trying to open the door to their getaway truck frantically. “This ain’t necessary, but to hell with it.” Jackie aimed the gun at the robber’s leg and shot him. Immediately, the poor sap screamed and fell to the ground, dropping the keys to the truck under the vehicle.
"AUGH! MY FUCKIN’ LEG!"
Jackie listened to the man’s screams and walked up to him, dragging him away from the truck, a trail of blood appearing from under the man. Jackie knelt down and flipped the man around, aiming both of the 1911 pistols at his head.
"Give me one good reason as to why I shouldn’t put some holes in your head."
"What?" Sean shook his head. "Y-you want me to stumble over my sentences? W-we don't exactly have time... time for that! You think you'd be grateful that I can get through one..." Someone was a little too paranoid (or perceptive) for their own good. Another name to add to Sean's little black book.
While Jackie played bad cop to the extreme, Sean rounded the truck and unlatched the back. Several duffels' worth of bills sat in the vehicle and he had to wonder how much he could get away with keeping. After stuffing a few wads into his own coat, Sean hauled what he could out of the back and returned to his impromptu partner of crime-fighting.
"Y'know... you might wanna leave him to the cops. It doesn't really look good to be playing v-vigilante."
ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Sasuke & Sean
It was hard not to grin at his little moment with the table. Charming, really, even if it didn’t exactly speak well to the cafe itself. As for himself, Sasuke was content to sit back with his arms crossed, fingers absently drumming against one arm. Well, he couldn’t have expected much more in the way of explanation, could he.
"No… I can’t blame you. Just like you can’t really blame me when I fill him in later." Truthfully, that wasn’t exactly a subject he wanted to tread on, but it couldn’t be avoided forever. "I’d almost be surprised you even wanted to, if it wasn’t obvious you were digging for information." Shame there hadn’t been much to give at the time, even if it had worked in Sasuke’s favor.
Another pause, this time to let the server set their drinks and be on her way again. Sighing quietly, he eyed the cup, but didn’t reach for it just yet. “But anyway, I assume you’ve been doing some digging around this place. Find anything worth sharing?” Assuming he actually trusted him that far, of course.
Sean frowned at that. There was no need for Sasuke to bring him up to Souji. Why did the man even think that was a good idea? It'd only make the latter get all huffy or something. Maybe even paranoid. "I guess that's your prerogative." But it wasn't like he could do any damage control. According to Sean, there were ways to avoid things forever. You just had to be creative and have the gumption to uphold it.
"I've only heard rumors, but you're good at chasing tails. Word out on the street is that those demons the military's so keen on culling? They provide the city with an energy source. Sounds like some fancy magitech that came out of a crappy JRPG, but I'm no physics major."
₡ommon ₠nts | Sean
"That’s true. I guess it’s good to be aware of one’s surroundings…" Atlus could tell Sean had some kind of inclination for these things, maybe just for scoping out, for knowledge and information. That sounded like something Alvin would’ve said too, now that he thought about it. "And having self-control probably helps." he laughed a little. "It wouldn’t muddle your perception of things…"
Atlus looked up, watching the clouds for a moment before opening his mouth. “I think there’s a lot for us to figure out about this place. And maybe… maybe there’s something in particular you want to find out…?” Kind of a leading question, and Atlus couldn’t guess for the life of him what made him suddenly so interested in prying, but… well, Sean was an interesting person, and he’d brought up an interesting subject too.
The nod about self-control elicited a raised brow but nothing more. Sean wasn't going to get into the business of prying. Guys like Atlus were best held at arm's length. He was going to break the poor guy's heart eventually, sure, but there was no need to get too buddy-buddy over things and have a feelings jam in the middle of the streets. That would be for another day when he needed something.
Atlus spoke the truth, though, that self-restraint was crucial in being able to call the shots. Sometimes the best options were the unpopular ones. And no matter who hated you for making those choices, hell, you had to tell yourself that it was the right move. Otherwise it'd haunt you for the rest of your life.
"Not really. I mean, this place is better than home, you know? I'm not looking for a way back." As much as he cared for the people in his previous life, Sean felt that they were better off beyond his grasp. He was a demon in human skin. No one needed to see that. "Are you looking for something in particular? I'll tell you right now, the marketplace only carries so much."

ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Sasuke & Sean
Truthfully, Sasuke hadn’t been sure whether or not there would be any time to chatter afterward. He had even been tempted to head back, but Sean’s gesture made him reconsider. Tensions aside, there was still a certain comfort in having a familiar face close at hand. As for being in public, well, it wasn’t as though they had anything to hide at the moment. At least not as far as he was aware.
"Heh. Yeah, hard to forget a bunch crazy as that." He chuckled quietly to himself. "Which was saying something, considering the rest of the city." That place was full of loons and there would be no convincing him otherwise; then again, who knew if this city was any better. Thinking back on it all, it felt like more time had passed than just a handful of months. But maybe that had to do with just how much had been packed into that time… huh. Funny what being uprooted could do to a guy.
Seating himself at one of the tables, he didn’t waste any time in gesturing to the nearest waitress. Time to finally sample some of the local tea—or as local as it likely got in a wasteland like this. Once she was gone to get their drinks, his gaze drifted back to Sean. “So. Any special reason for the disguise before, or were we just lucky that day?”
While Sasuke betrayed himself over to Alfendi's side of the Great Beverage War, Sean asked for a plain coffee. As much as he had humored the fabled leaf juice when away from his partner, their recent rendezvous meant he had no reason to act all nostalgic anymore. It was nice to be back to his standard cup of Joe.
He laced his fingers upon the surface of their little table and frowned when the entire thing tipped towards him. The legs were wobbly. Sean removed himself from his once comfortable position and slouched in his chair. "You can't blame me for being cautious. Your boyfriend isn't exactly my biggest fan. I couldn't approach you as me without you blabbing to him that I'm in town."
How fascinating... Sean || Desriat
Ah, and so it began! While it was obvious that his response caught the large man off guard, it seemed to have also caused a visible ripple in the energies that surrounded him, and Desriat watched those tasty little wisps swirl about his head. Oh how tempting they were! But no no… now was not the time to be snacking. Besides, talking with one’s mouth full was terribly discourteous.
"Flattery!" If it was a laugh Sean wanted, it was a laugh he got. "How curious you are, Master Sean! Ah, tell me." A coy grin sparked a glint behind those glasses. "How do you wish for me to react to that statement?”
Master Sean? Wow. Something really isn't right here. This guy's gonna become a threat if I don't figure out how to deal with him. Yet all the suspicion and skepticism hid behind his mortified facade. Perhaps, if Desriat were skilled enough, he would sense that Sean wasn't truly enamored in the slightest. The man was decidedly too feminine for his tastes - never mind the fact that he often went for women. The other man may have had soft features, but he was unmistakably not of the fairer sex.
"I fear that that might be a trick question... It would put me at a severe disadvantage if I were to tell you. Don't you think...?" Twiddling his thumbs, Sean kept his eyes off to the side. Though he would be unable to read Desriat's expression, he meant to protect himself from the same fate. I wonder if he knows that you can't fake blushing... doesn't feel like my face is red, so there goes that. Never mind the fact that he was spoken for. Come to think of it, he would have to run this by his partner. Otherwise there would be all sorts of misunderstandings to sort out.
"I mean... you already know so much about me and I barely know a thing about you! Not that I'm asking for much. Or anything at all, really."
ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Sasuke & Sean
Sasuke just snorted and followed. That wasn’t the kind of fee he had any reason to argue with. As for the cops, he just shrugged, still walking while Sean coughed up his explanation.
He did pause, though, when one of the cops decided to eye him warily. Of course, they weren’t going to buy it. “Ask the guys holed up in the lobby, if you don’t have the time to peek at the tapes. We weren’t anywhere near the safe when this whole mess started.”
Truthfully, it was tempting to prove they could probably best the lot of them, but that’d be more trouble than it was worth. Luckily, a few more telling looks at the police seemed inclined to roll with it, and quickly motioned for them to move along.
Back in the lobby, he paused to shoot Sean a glance over his shoulder. “Nice work back there, by the way.” Granted, these were small fries, but that didn’t change the fact. “Good to know someone around here can handle himself.”
Sasuke didn't have to compliment him, but the fact that he had spoke volumes. Sean's face lit up ever so slightly, just enough to be overlooked by those who didn't know him. He bit back a satisfied chuckle and waited until they had cleared the entrance. Once they were free from prying eyes, Sean gestured for Sasuke to take a left with him and started for the nearest outdoor cafe. It was public, yes, but the two of them had always managed on their own.
"Remember those cultists? The ones who got a rise out of connecting the dots with blood." Those were the days, back when Sasuke and Sean got along out of more than simple necessity. Funny how frying a guy's brains could make him warm up to you.
ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ɢʀᴇᴇɴ ᴅᴏʟʟᴀʀs | Sasuke & Sean
Good, these guys had been as easy to take down as he’d guessed. Shame, that didn’t speak well to the bank’s security. His eyes narrowed slightly, though, at Sean’s comment. Much as he could appreciate the sentiment, he wasn’t looking to make himself a criminal, not over something like this.
Bless his decision regarding the music, though.
"About time. I was starting to feel my brain cells dying off." He sighed, glancing around the room while his clones melted back to wherever they’d come. It was tempting, no doubt, but… "If you want to grab some, help yourself, but I’d like to think you’d be more subtle than bank robbery." In other words, he had no qualms about ignoring the law, but the idea of getting caught in here wasn’t appetizing.
Then again, the longer he stood there and considered, the more he found ways they could get away, once the cameras were dealt with. What was there to stop them? They’d gotten this far undetected, the rest would be easy, if they didn’t get too greedy.
"But…just how big a reward did you have in mind?"
Sean whistled as he turned the men over, fishing into their pockets and pulling out their wallets. There wasn't much in the way of cash, but Sean snapped it up all the same. They wouldn't be needing the money where they were going. "Finder's fee."
He left the room through the door and held his hands up as a wave of cops burst in on the scene. Idly, Sean gestured towards the people in the room and suggested, "Check the cameras. You'll know they're the guys. If my buddy and I were dirty, we'd have run at the sight of you all!"

I can't say I'd miss him too much if he ended up in a garbage compacter. He's totally the type to get mixed up in the wrong thing. Oh well. Guess there's no use in talking sense into him until something bad happens. Hopefully he won't have to get crushed into a bloody pulp for the lesson to sink in.

⌆ a nervous tic or habit they do
Sean doesn't do nervous when he's pressured, but he does have a tendency to go deathly quiet. That's his reaction to stress, to block everything out and focus upon his actions and what is within his control. He's not the type to try and lighten the mood. Doing so is considered a distraction to him.
⏀ describe their usual smile
Chipper. Fake. Trying too hard.
His second most common smile is the happy-go-lucky big brother smile. It's small, understated, and guaranteed to make your heart flutter a little.
