Age of the Goose

Okay so admittedly the goose only understands a little about human fashion (Like how bows, crowns and capes are all rad.), but that seems like a ridiculous amount of belts on that guy’s person. Like there’s so many and for what purpose? Does he sell them? Use them? Are they special belts?

Clearly answers have to be found, so the goose, using a little help from its new anti-gravity boon quietly floats next to Sephiroth just high enough for his neck to reach out and pull one loose. He flaps his wings! Victory! Now to poke and pull at his new prize. What secrets does it hold?

For those in and nearby the temple dedicated to Andromeda–they’ll likely be startled by a sudden flash of light and what sounds like ethereal music but–no. That must be their imagination. As the light fades, it reveals a very tall woman with pointed ears and an hourglass emblem on her forehead. A glance to any of the tapestries in the temple will confirm suspicions. Yep. It’s the Sage of Time herself. 

Of course, the Sages appearing before regular citizens isn’t unheard of–it’s quite common for some of them. Still, she crosses her arms and looks at those present in her temple with a very stern glare.

“The goddess help me–if any of you see a goose on these grounds, I want it g–”

Before she can even finish her sentence, another flash of light and definitely some ethereal music interrupts her. It seems Luna–the Sage of Space, and Andromeda’s wife–has something to add.

“Andromeda, please, it’s just one little goose,” Luna says, clasping her hands and giving Andromeda a pleading look.

“One little goose is more than enough trouble–I do not want it pooping in my pools, Luna.”

“Just give it a chance–”

“This is not some human that can be reasoned with!”

“But look it’s so cute!”

“You’re its patron, why don’t you let it stay at your temple??”

“Because I don’t have any ponds!”

The bickering goes on for a bit more, the witnesses staring in awe, looking back and forth between the Sages who were. Arguing? Over a goose?

“Come on, compromise?” Luna asks, which seems to be Andromeda’s breaking point.

“It is a goose, Luna. I don’t know how you expect to–”

“Pleaaase? For me? Because you love me so much?” 

Andromeda gives her a hard look for a moment before sighing and shaking her head.

“Alright, fine. The goose can stay but if it poops in any of my pools I will forcibly send it to Pearl Park,” Andromeda relents.

Who is this other loud chaotic fellow with the admittedly rad cape?? The other’s posturing and big voice presence immediately ignite a fiery rage. Does he think he could be a bolder, better goose than the Goose?!?!

Rivalry- nay- War is clearly the only answer!

This is like the second person sleeping out in the open the goose has seen since he’s got here. Is this place really that boring? Or are they from a much more forgiving world where doing so wouldn’t automatically guarantee harassment by waterfowl?? Truly unthinkable.

Eh, as he carefully starts to pull the young man’s hair ribbon free from his perch on the table Linhardt’s head is resting, the goose decides it really doesn’t matter. Life comes at you fast, you just gotta adapt and take advantage.

It sure is unfortunate if this poor fool really though venturing this far into Kester Park would provide him worry free solitude. This is the goose’s domain now, and he sure is curious about some of the books Caleb’s brought.

Ah… she’s not too sure what she expected, really. Kanon stares as the goose flaps his wings, and she fiddles with her hair. How do you communicate with an animal?? School never taught her this??

❝ Honk…? Honk? ❞

Now she’s honking… her day just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Well, maybe he wants a treat! Animals crave things… probably. She debates for a second, before walking inside the cafe. After a minute or so she returns… with a cup filled with whipped cream! She’ll get something for herself later.

❝ Um, here you go! ❞

She kneels down and offers it to him. Can goose even have whipped cream?? She has no idea, she’s just trying to calm him down. Maybe this is a magical goose… an animal with such powers is kinda scary to think about–

Oh. Wow. Those are some pitiful honks. At least she’s trying? But honestly it just makes the goose again pity the human race, tilting its head. Oh! She walks inside and the goose tries very hard to slip in after her- but is swept out again landing squarely on its tail feathers, feets splayed in front of it.

This place will regret its very conception!!!!!!! Humiliating THE Goose like THIS- Oh. The lady is back. Hopping back onto its feet, the bird waddles over to inspect the offering. Did she.. get him this? Huh!! Humans rarely do that. Unfortunately he’s not too sure about the contents. Eh. Doesn’t smell like something he should eat. It sure looks neat though.

Someone or something was honking, quacking? In his ear for several minutes now. It’s quite annoying to boot, if anything he’s more used to something else. A purring… was it actually purring? Well, rather, more of a sound of fous instead. But whatever that’s been honking in his ear isn’t… making him get up quite yet.

Ritsuka’s stubborn like that.

“Leave me alone….”

Look at this fool, just laying about. Honestly he’s just asking to be messed with. The goose supposes it’s time to teach this human dude about some life lessons. Like laying in a goose’a path is a prime way to get absolutely destroyed with sick pranks. So he walks all over him and then lowers his neck to honk in his ear.

“HONK-HONK. HONK!!!” (HEY YOU FOOL. WAKE UP. AM THE GOOSE.)

Several wake up honks fail to do the job. Wow this kid is like super stubborn. He almost respects his power of will. But that weak little whine of whatever he said??? Pathetic. Honestly he has this coming.

Shoelaces are pulled. Pockets are rummaged through. Nothing really grabs his eye though. Haha some of those clasps on his uniform are shiny. He pulls them undone, but alas, he can’t get them off completely.

Alright, despite being essentially kidnapped and forced to stay in an apartment with a stranger, things could be much worse! Is she trying to convince herself that? Maybe… but at least she found a nice cafe! Her talent at finding them by smell seems to have come in handy, at least. The familiar smell of cakes and coffee eases her nerves just a bit, and a small smile graces her face. Maybe relaxing inside will help her adjust her scattered thoughts.

She walks up to the door, but quickly notices… a goose? He seems to be staring inside and trying to enter. Kanon stares for a moment, before tilting her head.

❝ I don’t think you can go inside… ❞

…Is she talking to a goose?! Sigh, she’s really losing her mind right now… but it’s not the weirdest thing she’s done. Might as well go along with it. Here’s to hoping no one is judging her right now… can he even understand her? Fuee…

❝ Do you want something? ❞

The goose has little idea where he is, and why it is not the village he knows so well. After the first five minutes waddling around he decided that didn’t matter. There are things to look at. Things to grab. People who needed to know whose presence they are now in.

Like this cafe for instance. They will not let him stay inside! It’s so rude. They keep forcing him out with a broom. At least he learned he has a neat floaty trick now, but it’s hardly helping his situation as he presses his goosey face against the glass window.

Suddenly he hears someone above him. Some girl??? Wild hair. Very blue. Bless her soul, she is attempting contact with those weird sounds humans make. Like half-hearted pitiful honks. Here, he’ll show her.
