Orb-3 is scheduled to lift off at 6:45 PM EST Monday, 27 October. It will be the first night launch of the vehicle, occurring roughly 37 minutes after sunset. Antares launches from Pad 0A at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Virginia’s eastern shore. In following the company’s tradition, the Cygnus spacecraft will be named the  SS Deke Slayton, after the original Mercury astronaut and contributor to the development of commercial spaceflight. The previous four spacecraft have been named after deceased astronauts. Of particular note on the Orb-3 flight is the Antares’ second stage. The previous flights of the vehicle has used a Castor-30 solid rocket motor. Orb-3 will launch with an improved version of the upper stager, dubbed the Castor XL, which is 2.5 meters taller than its predecessor.
