Quick PSA for any one who needs to hear this:
ALL of your special interests are VALID!!! Yes everyone one you’ve ever had. Even your first one.
No matter how weird or “cringe” it might be.. when you look back on it and think “what was I doing?” What ever you wanted to! You had fun, you found fanart and fics and blogs and you talked online about it! You made friends, you laughed, you cried, you lived and grew through this piece of media!
The wonderful thing about it is those friends you made and blogs you interacted with, experienced that media in a different way! You like the same thing for different reasons and different parts of it. How amazing is that?! You read the same fanfic and got something different out of it.
This next part is so so important: your special interests do not make a bad person. Do NOT listen to anyone who tells you that your interest of choice is “typical” or “that’s so autistic of you”. If you like something that most people don’t think of or “isn’t made for you” doesn’t make you less autistic. That’s not for anyone but to decide. Also the amount of time you spend interacting with it matters to no one but yourself.
Those people don’t deserve your time or attention. Block them, delete them do whatever you can to get them out of your life. You are better off without them and after a while you won’t remember them.
So go out and enjoy those special interest(s), reblog that fanart, draw it, read that fanfics, write that fanfic, reach out to that blog, and do what makes you happy!
Spend time with good, kind people. They’re out there. I recommend staying on Tumblr for that. I mean that. 5 years on this app and everyone feels like a friend, even the blogs I have yet to interact with! I’ve never had a bad time on this app!
If anyone gives you crap for anything..send them to me. I’ll listen to your interests, info dumps, theories, characters! I love to see your passions and excitement… my inbox is open
I love everyone on here. Even those I don’t know. Let’s make new friends!
-sincerely a safe blog excited to meet you.
