She doesn’t have to be a mother, or a sister… she is a human. Every year we are contacted by HUNDREDS of women and families who need CULTURALLY SENSITIVE help. The reality is that 60% of our cases involve children. 85% of our clients live below the poverty line. 

The Amal Center in Montreal, Canada is the ONLY women’s center in Quebec that caters specifically towards Muslim women. We are culturally sensitive shelter that aims to help and educate women on their rights and freedoms. Our clients are mostly women of colour who are often new immigrants. We aim to give abused women a voice. While our services cater towards Muslim women, we are open to any woman or family in need.

We are a registered non profit who is 100% volunteer run! We are trying to raise $50,000 by Eid ul Adha through our LaunchGood Campaign! The funds will go towards provided services like marriage counseling, crisis intervention and paying our social workers. 

Our services are crucial more than ever with the rise of Islamophobia. Quebec Muslim women’ freedoms are also under threat due to the conservative government passing Bill 21, a law that states women in governmental positions cannot wear the Hijab.

With this blessed month of Ramadan, we are bringing to you the potential to accumulate sadaqa jariya AND distribute zakat in providing immediate and long-term support to women and families in distress and need!
