Eternal Youth

>>🌙>> The gawkers, however, quickly had their attention taken by a withering glare from the queen, one of disapproval and disappointment. They quickly turned their gazes away, not wanting to hold the negative attentions of one of three forms that were quick to anger. The moment they were gone, though, Luxanna’s features softened.

“If a clean slate is what you desire, you can have that here. Demacia is a city of magic, there’s more than one practicing spellcaster here … including the queen.” A mischievous smile grew on her features as she leaned forward slightly, locking eyes with the youthful mage.

“This is more than a welcome, though. It’s an invitation. I want to know more about the one who’s drawn me to her … starting with her name, if you’d like.”

     “My name is Nyx, dear queen.”

Nyx was quick to notice how her behavior was to her and the subjects she commanded. Perhaps she would be alright here. A hand went to smooth the silk of her pants, wondering how she should present herself to this one.

As the kitten that Nyx took fell into her hold, the princess joined in laughter. It was nice to see her smile and hear her laugh. Even if it was just a small chuckle. Kamui didn’t get to hear it often, so it would be a treasured memory. Not hearing the mutter, she shifted the the other two kittens so they rested in one hand each. The one in her left, dancing with calico colors, continued to nibble at her thumb and palm. Little snitch! The other one, gray in color, lounged in her hand. It didn’t seem to mind being held.

“See, they are adorable! I think it likes you! I think having some around camp would benefit us. Do you think these little ones have a home? Cats suit you, Nyx. Based on appearance!! They are quite mellow. Ah, w-well, except for this little guy.”

    “From one standpoint, they would help to ensure none of our food gets rats in them, I suppose.”

She watched the ones the princess still held with amusement. Perhaps they would lighten the spirits of the camp, if they had managed to make herself laugh. There was enough scrap food leftover from meals they could feed them with, so it wasn’t like they would be expending any extra supplies.

     “I think the others would enjoy them as well. Given the appearance, I doubt their mother is around. She might have been killed.”

      ❝ Maybe I do~ ❞ The fox’s ears twitched where he lay, snuggling closer to the woman. He had no intention of getting up just yet. ❝ You can keep reading. I just wanna stay like this~ ❞

     “Well, I suppose you can stay here?”

     Kamui simply couldn’t help herself sometimes. Seeing Nyx like this just made it all the more worthwhile. Without a worry in the world the princess leaned in again, kissing the bridge of her nose this time. ❝ I just wanted to tell you I love you~ ❞ She hummed. ❝ Is that wrong? ❞

    “Sorry, I’m just. . . I.”

Great, Kamui had her flustered beyond belief, something rare for the witch who normally had something to say at any given time of the day. She blew out some air, eyes refocusing on the other.

      ❝ Oh, come now, a little company couldn’t possibly be so bad. ❞ Granted, Ambriel knew she could be… Bothersome to some, but she’d longed for another to be able to share her magic with. Only Nyx would understand her, at least that was what she thought. Retrieving an old, worn tome from her side she held it out, smiling. ❝ This is the last copy of this particular tome. I was thinking… Perhaps you’d like to have a look through it? ❞

     “Oh.”

She had her. Hook, line, and sinker, Nyx was a sucker for old and rare tomes. She supposed she could withstand the other’s company if it meant being able to grace the pages of such a thing. 

Soft laughter could be heard as she gently walked over towards the group of kittens. What were they doing all the way out here? They didn’t look as if they had a home, either. Kneeling down, she picked them up (they were a small bunch – just three).

“But look at how soft they are~. It looks like they want to reach out to you!” She lightly teased, scratching their bellies. One nipped at her hand, but she didn’t mind it. It hurt, yes, but that didn’t change her grip. Kitten nips weren’t anything like a wyverns.

     “I’m softer.”

Came a low mumble under breath. Was the black cat jealous of how cute the other kittens were. Yes. Would she ever admit to it? Not at all.

    “I suppose they’re just a little bit cute.”

[ Momoka pouts and narrows her brows: how come the dark mage could read her so well? Could it be that Nyx, too, suffered the same treatment? ]

“ Even if he did, I wouldn’t care anyway. I don’t get upset over this kind of childish mockery. ”

    “The fact you have your cheeks puffed out so, speaks a different story entirely.”

Nyx couldn’t resist chuckling, as she reached out to wrap delicate fingers around the other’s wrist, beginning to pull upon it.

✥ | “It certainly is hot today…” Even Nyx herself wasn’t a big fan of this horrid heat. Although sunlight was nice during the days, it’s not a lot of fun when the heat rays drain you of from all of her energy. 

The princess didn’t have any fans to cool herself off, but she waves her hand in an attempt to fan herself. It’s a good thing she’s under the shade. Perhaps she’ll fetch herself a drink to keep hydrated.

     “Here.”

She held out her fan to the other.

     “You may borrow it for a little bit. Your face is extremely red. I don’t want you getting heat stroke on me.”

Nyx would be fine for a little while without it, however a thought occurred to her. Perhaps she should go get two skins of water for themselves. After all, it would do at all to dehydrate while at rest, would it? It’d defeat the point. 

She rose, brushing the dust off her bottom, before giving a rare smile to the princess.

“ Ehy! It’s no problem, really. I, too, zone out for a bit sometimes. It happens even to the best of us. ” [ Shrugging, Eris waved a dismissive hand and tried to add a bit of humor to her response in order to reassure the other that no harm had been done. ]

     “Alright.”

At least the other understood, even seemed humorous about it. Nyx let out a relieved sigh, dark eyes having a slight hint of amusement with the situation. The rest of her body would remain unreadable, however.

    “U-Um. Thank you? I think?”

     “Honestly I could care less.”

     “Did you wish for my attention or something?”
