“y/n..” you slid your phone into your back pocket and reached your hand out for a handshake. “what’s yours?”

“i’m ian!” instead of shaking your hand, she tugged you closer and pulled you into a side hug, warm and sudden. “i’m so glad i’m not the only girl in this club. leehan lied to me”

“leehan?” you blinked, a little caught off guard by how quickly she’d gotten comfortable, but for some reason, you didn’t pull away. instead, you found yourself relaxing into her hold without thinking.

“over there, that’s leehan, the club president. HEY LEEHAN!” ian called out loudly, waving her arm with dramatic energy across the lecture hall. a dark brown haired boy with wide, round eyes turned at the sound, his expression shifting from confusion to recognition. his face lit up, and as he started walking toward you and ian, your stomach dropped the moment you realized who he was.

“hey guys! thanks so much for coming out” your mystery fish boy — leehan — beamed when he reached you, stopping just a step too close for your already racing heart.

ian squinted at him playfully, pointing a finger in accusation. “you’re such a liar. you said the gender ratio was going to be 50:50. y/n and i are the only girls here”

leehan just smiled sheepishly, shrugging as he shoved his hands into his pockets. “whoops”

ian let out an exaggerated sigh, her arm still draped comfortably over your shoulder. you took that as your chance to finally say something, but the moment you opened your mouth, leehan turned to you and pointed.

“y/n, right? i’m so glad you came today”

and just like that, every word you were about to say disappeared. your mouth opened, then closed, then opened again, no sound coming out until you finally managed, “y-you know my name?”

“of course i do! our conversation left a really strong impression” he smiled, and something in your chest softened instantly, like a piece of you quietly giving in.

“so, what are your years and majors?” ian asked, looking between the two of you.

their conversation started up, but it faded into the background as your thoughts drifted somewhere else entirely. leehan remembered you. he remembered your name.

“what about you, y/n?”

“huh?” you snapped back to reality, meeting his eyes—those soft, boba-like eyes that made it hard to look away. “oh, i’m a second year journalism major”

“oh wow that’s so cool!” ian looped her arm through yours again, practically bouncing with excitement. “so you’re like, older than us? can i call you unnie? i’ve always wanted an older sister”

you couldn’t help but smile at her, at how genuine she was, how easily she wore her excitement. “sure, call me unnie”

leehan raised both hands, taking a step back as if distancing himself from the idea. “don’t expect me to call you noona. that’s reserved for my actual sister”

“i wouldn’t dream of it” you laughed, though there was a strange twist in your stomach that you couldn’t quite ignore.

“unnie, do you have twitter? you should follow me!” ian pulled her phone out quickly and handed it to you. you typed in your username, fingers moving almost automatically. “matter of fact, what’s everyone’s twitter? we should all follow each other”

leehan didn’t object, and before you knew it, ten minutes had passed. somehow, you were mutuals now—with ian, and with the cute fish boy you met at club rush. it felt a little unreal, like things were falling into place too easily.

“okay well, i’ll see you guys around. same time next week?” leehan asked.

“yes!” ian threw up two thumbs, grinning. “we’ll see you then”

“alrighty then” leehan laughed softly at her enthusiasm. “that’s what i like to hear. see ya. bye ian, bye y/n”

“bye” you waved, watching him walk away, your eyes lingering just a second longer than they should.

“so, can i have your number?” ian smiled.

sungho is a second year architecture major. one of the only sane ones in the friend group, sungho is often forced into the group's shenanigans, including leehan's new marine life observation club on campus. but don't be fooled by his responsible front, he's just as loud as the rest. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree or however the saying goes.

riwoo is a second year dance major. he practically lives in the practice room on campus or teaching classes in his dance studio he started called 'daejj dance.' yes, his dance studio is named after his two dogs daebak and jjangi. energetic and #1 instigator of jaehyun's antics.

jaehyun is a second year business admin major with a minor in music production. he's infamous at koz university for his devilish antics and somehow knowing everyone and their mothers. jaehyun is also an active member of countless business frats as well as just... well... regular frats. when he's not doing keg stands or shamelessly flirting with girls, jaehyun helps produce tracks for taesan's songs.

taesan is a first year music production major, although his studies have currently been shoved to the back burner. one of the rare occasions of a soundcloud musician actually achieving success, taesan is currently more focused on his music career as he's begun making his name as an underground indie artist.

woonhak is a first year psychology major at koz university. despite being a first year, he's technically a year younger than taesan and leehan because he graduated high school a year early. a bright and bubbly personality, woonhak loves following along with whatever his hyungs are up to. the name of the group chat was actually an inside joke where the rest of the boys pranked woonhak, "confessing" that his mom had actually paid them to be his suitemates and friends.

ian is a first year nursing student attending koz university. born and raised in the countryside, ian moved up to seoul after graduating high school to attend uni and initially struggled to assimilate because she doesn't know anyone. the first friend she makes on campus is y/n, and the two instantly grow close.

anton has been y/n's best friend since sixth grade, although he attends uni abroad, in scotland, as a first year majoring in political science. anton loves to troll y/n and despite his crude humor, he always wants what's best for y/n. also in a loving, 2+ year relationship with his gf (unnamed).

wonhee is a first year public health major and is one of y/n's closest friends. she's known y/n since middle school when they burnt their hair in a chemical experiment and have been inseparable since. although she doesn't attend koz uni, she's only an hour away, at belift uni with her boyfriend, yujin, whom she's been dating for over 2 years.

yujin is a second year uni student majoring in civil engineering. he was introduced to y/n and her friend group through wonhee in high school. a very blunt and honest person, which is something y/n needs sometimes. there are no bushes to beat around for yujin because he beats them all because he gets straight to the point.
