          all the guiding voices usually inhabiting his mind — pike, spock, his mother — had silenced, replaced by the breed of blind rage usually only experienced by men on the brink of death.

          the man who had cost him the closest thing he had left to a father, nearly cost him both his ship and his family, was back, standing calmly as jim struggled to his feet. one of the bones in his hand felt broken, the skin around the knuckles ragged and bleeding, but nothing would stop him from pounding khan into the ground where he belonged.

             HE gave a slight shrug of the shoulders. what did he, the augment, care of the actions of this petulant creature? though kirk bore the title of a wizened man, he clearly did not fit the description. he was still but a child, with a child’s undeveloped mind and a heart to follow suit. kirk lived in the NOW and was subject to the iron fist of his emotions, a state that brought to khan’s lips an amused smile.                                would marring the augment’s face REALLY bring back the dead?                                                            no, and kirk’s vain belief that it would amused him.

                  “YOU call yourself a captain, and yet you still act like an infant.”             tired, inanimate eyes fell upon kirk. the augment could easily imagine the fury that must have been coursing throughout his body. in fact, he understood exactly the captain’s emotional state         but unlike the blond, khan could control GUIDE his rage. here, where khan’s hatred manifested in the form of an icy gaze and a stone-like stoicism, kirk’s manifested into something wild, untamed.

            ❛   … somehow, i think that greatly depends on the availability of aquatic WILDLIFE. one cannot assume that there will be a supply of rivers, or … any fish at all.
