hmmm i just think yk... river and belonging nowhere, but he belongs to and with his friends, now. bc as far as he knows, his real parents didn't want him and gave him away. and the community they all grew up in shunned him for one reason or another. whether they did or didn't say it to his face, it's always like oh i'm different and that's bad, and maybe even evil? and his 'dad' would, in fact, kill him/throw him to the wolves to save his own skin and river's always known that. like constantly living on thin ice with someone that's supposed to love and take care of you.

and his friends and him are all each other have now. they're all running from something or misunderstood/lost in some way. but river would do anything for them. he'll fight for them because what reason has anyone else ever given him? who else has loved him unconditionally? you know??? he loves them!!!

you're a desperate ghost. the people in your home can't seem to hear you, but you need them to. so you grow louder, bolder, and more obvious. but if they do notice, they don't listen. instead, they leave. you can't move on to the afterlife until someone tells your story. you just don't want to be forgotten. when you were alive, you were always running around, working, trying to earn everything── even if it was offered freely. as a ghost, you only turn it up a notch. you can't let your hard work go to waste. if you're forgotten, it's like you were never here. like you never mattered. i hope you remember that you do matter. that even if you can't save the world, you can help your little corner of it. i hope you let yourself rest. you deserve it.

i do keep thinkin about river and if he ever gets to find his real family again…. and how after like 11-12 years, they don’t even know you. what do you even say. the last time they saw you you were just small. do you just hope they’ll believe it’s you? that they’ll somehow Know? that they even want to see you? (your whole life you were told they didn’t want you and they gave you up) do you just want to ask them why? or if it’s true? if they didn’t give you up, did they even look for you? did they miss you? what if you’re some kind of disappointment somehow now, like too damaged to be wanted or taken back?
