ZAP! BYE ASSHAT!

          he knew that they’d reach a point on this trip where mae would complain, but he hadn’t expected it to take so long. ‘twas not like he minded as he’d relished in that silence for as long as it’d persisted. now as she spoke berkut accepted the fact that that peace would now be lost—though some part of him couldn’t find the means to complain about it either.

          ❛ true, it has been some time—but dis has been doing all the walking, mae. not us. ❜ the prince shifts in his saddle. even it was something that he’d grown used to after long rides and training over the years, it still at times grew uncomfortable. hence why he’d expected to hear mae’s complaints sooner.

          he turns his head to face her as best that he could while keeping an eye on the unbeaten path ahead. it takes everything for him to not roll his eyes.

          ❛ regardless, I expect we’ll arrive at the fort shortly. ‘twould have been sooner had someone not lost the map and gotten us separated from the rest of the company. ❜

A nervous laugh bubbled from Mae’s lips, her eyes connecting with his before they drifted aside out of shame. It was true that she had lost the map sometime back && had gotten them separated... but atleast Berkut knew where he was going! If it weren’t for him, then Mae would undoubtedly be lost for hours. A rather sheepish grin came to the Mage’s features as she looked his way. 

        “ H-Hey! Well... Okay you’re not totally wrong but. Look       it’s not that bad, is it? “

They weren’t too far from the fort, it seemed. Plus she’s rather thankful that Berkut let her ride on his horse instead of just walking all the way there as punishment. If she had to then she’d be whining some more. Despite this her legs were already quite sore but she wasn’t going to mention it. 

The bouncing of Berkut’s horse felt like normal at this point as Mae sat behind him, just wondering when they were supposed to arrive at their destination. She had ACTUALLY kept quiet for the most part but now she was growing rather restless. She peered over the taller boy’s shoulder, trying to see ahead of him as she let out a groan. 

Mae struggled with so much as trying to even breathe && even staring into her best friends eyes was hard enough. There was too much blood coating her clothes && the hands that Celica was pressing to the wound. The tears falling from her eyes were uncontrollable && Mae gasped for air. She reached out touch a piece of her friend’s hair. 

The personal value of the item that had been engulfed in flames just moments before had not been lost on Boey. That is why he had gotten so terrified and almost fled when he realized what had been struck by his spell. The thought of fleeing is still present, and growing.

“That would be different! You would be doing it because you are nothing more than petty whereas I had done so in an honest mistake!”

A whine from the girl surfaced as she practically spit her words out at her best friend. Things could be replaced, Mae knew that very well. Yet for some reason she was still going to be furious.

Boey knows that look. Mae is trying her hardest to keep from lashing out. She has lasted longer now than the last time he saw this very expression. How much longer can she keep her anger held back? Anger that is half justified, since he did, even if it had been by mistake, burn her books.

“I have told you if you would only just listen and stop declaring me a buffoon! My aim got thrown off by you entering and screaming my name so suddenly!”

         “ Yeah but.... Oh c’mon Boey.. This was        a gift from my mom... “ 

She mumbled, starting to grow sad for a split second before turning to Boey && growling, almost like an animal would. She wanted some sort of payback && it was getting harder && harder to suppress her anger.

         “ Pst... Hey get over here! “

She whispers, motioning Berkut to follow her.  Of course she was surprised to see him awake but more so, Mae wanted to talk to him.

         “ I can’t believe you, Boey. “

The girl huffs, fists curling up at her sides as  she tries to control her anger. She couldn’t  believe that Boey had accidentally (yeah right) set fire to one of her books. She didn’t care if he was practicing it was still HER stuff.

         “ Hey Boey! “

Mae called out to her best friend, leaning over to poke the other mage in his side. Of course she had her almost TRADEMARK grin on her lips. 

Mae is hatching something within that pink head of hers. Boey just knows it, watching as that mischievous grin spread across her face. Should he be worried? Is this plan something that could result with the ship sinking? It is a relief hearing the idea, though one that also brings slight worry.

“Catch dinner? Mae, you do not know the first thing about fishing.” Plus, hadn’t she thrown up the last time she looked out at the water?

         “ Oh c’mon Boey! You can teach me, I’m sure       fishing is easy. “

She huffed, looking over in his direction with that almost trademark mischevious smile of hers.  The one that most often got her into trouble. Of course just at that moment the boat lurched, causing Mae to hold her stomach && flop over.
