Suggestions to celebrate Oscar Wilde’s birthday
Fling yourself on a divan
Look at your own reflection for 2 hours to marvel in the beauty of your sins
Write forbidden books
Let chocolate melt on the tip of your tongue
Don’t interact with straight people
Eat the petals of a sunflower
Change your opinion on philosophy and attack your former mentor
Wear silk on bare skin
Put an easel in your room and start a painting. Don’t finish it!
Wait for the moon come out. Cry at her beauty
Date a Libra (bonus points if you’re a libra yourself)
Write compromising gay letters
Drench yourself in french perfume
Put on lipstick and kiss marble or the surface of a mirror
If you have to interact with straight people: be insufferably snobby and say promiscuous, contradictory things that border on nonsensical
Have a complicated relationship with the Catholic Church
Want to join a book club to read War and Peace together, one chapter a day?

Hello readers and illustrators! As I read, I like to mark pages of description of the characters so that I'll be able to draw the characters in the books. I thought it might be nice to compile my notes and make them available for general use. Since I've added my first title, I'm ready to introduce the project. Here is the folder, to which I will continue to add new titles as I go.
Since I am merely compiling notes and not creating any original work (unless specifically stated: I may use some original translation for my notes), I don't require any credit (though I'll gladly accept it), but please feel free to tag me (I'll track #visualnoteslibrary) in anything you create using my resources! I'll check the tag and reblog some cool pieces.

anyone wanna produce a Wilde Trials limited miniseries and make me showrunner
i just got your blog recommended to me but this is bringing me back to probably the best part of high school when i was obsessed with oscar wilde and the picture of dorian gray and i thank you for these good memories <3
Aw I'm glad! I made this blog when I was a junior in high school (I'm now a senior in college) very much having the same best part of high school coinciding with my big Wilde phase. I'm not as active as a blogger or as a Wildean as I have been, but it's still very much an interest of mine and a phase I look back on fondly. I'm glad to cohabitate in this nostalgia.

I regularly mention that asked I could do an entire, thorough and detailed biography of Oscar Wilde from memory if asked and yet, no one has ever asked.

Me: How am I ever going to reach the word count I need on this essay draft before my peer review today?
Oscar Wilde, with a 179-word sentence perfect to quote for my essay: I got you, babe.
Should I attempt to acquire absinthe for Oscar’s birthday next Saturday? I’ve yet to try it and I am intrigued. But also intimidated.
Thomas Wright’s Built of Books is clearly a book about Wilde for people who know their Wilde but man. Roast him I guess!

Classic Literary Illustrator’s Database
I’m working on a personal reference project in which I catalogue passages of physical description in the books I read. Generally I like to refer back to these bits so that I have the finest mental image I can, but I also love having notes for if I want to do some character design or illustrating out of the books I read. If I were to compile this on a shareable document, would anyone be interested in using my notes?
Here’s an example of what it would look like (formatting details subject to change), using the notes I’m working on from The Count of Monte Cristo:
Please reply or reblog to let me know if you’re interested!
This is the best blog in this whole site. Oscar Wilde bless you.
