he’s  always  liked  the  holidays.  the  decorations  people  put  up  in  the  stores,  the  lights  strung  up  around  houses  and  on  the  trees  in  the  park,  and  the  warmth  of  a  fireplace  while  watching  various  movies  ━━━  it’s  something  he’s  enjoyed  ever  since  he  was  a  child.

                    lately  that  joy  seems  to  have  faded.  he  still  finds  beauty  in  the  things  around  him,  but  he  doesn’t  feel  that  same  satisfaction  anymore.  is  this  a  sign  of  him  growing  up  ?  no,  it  can’t  be  ...  even  his  grandparents  and  aunts  and  uncles  are  still  having  fun.  so  why  isn’t  he  ?

                    ugh.  he  exhales  quietly,  grip  tightening  on  his  coffee  cup  (  which  is  appropriately  filled  with  hot  chocolate  )  as  he  stares  up  at  the  ceiling  before  craning  his  neck  to  peer  down  the  hall.  there’s  nothing  there,  but  he  wishes  there  was  ━━━  he’s  lonely.

                                                         maybe  that’s  why  he  doesn’t  feel  happy.

                    a  roll  of  his  eyes  follows,  then  an  irritated  huff.  he  feels  bad  for  feeling  bad.  there’s  plenty  of  other  people  who  spend  the  holidays  alone,  it’s  nothing  new.  he  had  thought  that  maybe  spending  christmas  alone  for  once  would  be  nice.  while  he  enjoys  having  his  family  around,  it’s  quite  calming  to  just  sit  in  darkness  and  let  silence  surround  him.  he  often  prefers  to  be  alone  during  his  free  time  anyway  ...  yet  this  time  he  can’t  bring  himself  to  feel  peaceful.

                                                                    he  misses  her  presence.

                    it’s  a  bit  strange  not  having  her  around.  even  if  they  aren’t  close  by,  she’s  only  a  room  or  so  away  and  should  he  think  of  something  to  say  he  knows  where  to  find  her.  he  can  still  text,  but  it  just  isn’t  the  same.  is  she  warm  right  now  ?  eating  enough  during  meals  ?  she  hasn’t  caught  a  cold,  right  ?  he  knows  the  icy  temperatures  aren’t  the  best  for  her  health.

                    he’s  so  caught  up  in  his  thoughts  that  he  almost  doesn’t  hear  the  doorbell,  though  the  second  chime  is  enough  to  drag  him  back  into  reality  and  he’s  untangling  himself  from  the  pile  of  blankets  to  make  his  way  downstairs  ━━━  he  keeps  one  because  who  knows  how  cold  it  is  outside.

                    the  sight  of  his  lover  is  definitely  unexpected,  but  it  has  his  heart  soaring  (  a  welcomed  feeling  to  replace  the  chilling  and  uncaring  nature  he’d  felt  only  moments  before  )  and  he  instantly  reaches  out  to  slide  his  arms  around  her  and  pull  her  closer.  ❛  i  thought  you  were  going  away  for  awhile  ?  ❜  a  small  smile  forms  and  he’s  taking  the  blanket  off  to  wrap  it  around  her  shoulders  instead.  ❛  i  missed  you.  ❜  a  light  kiss  is  pressed  against  her  cheek  as  he  plucks  the  bow  of  off  the  present  to  set  it  on  top  of  her  head.  ❛  i  see  santa  came  a  few  hours  early.  i’ll  have  to  thank  him.  ❜

                    he  WONDERS  if  her  question  is  SARCASTIC  or  not,  but  paired  with  her  EXPRESSION  he  figures  she  MUST  be  serious.  it  seems  like  HIS LIFE  is  filled  with  VARIOUS  monsters,  both  physical  and  IN  the  metaphorical  sense  and  NEITHER  are  to  his  liking.

                    that  SOUNDS  both  helpful  and  TERRIFYING  at  the  same  time.  on  ONE  hand  it’d  be  easier  to  FINISH  tasks  and  such  but  ON  the  other  doesn’t  THAT  mean  someone  more  POWERFUL  exists  and  was  the  one  TO CREATE  everything  ?  he’s  not  sure  IF  he’d  like  that.
