This list is based on a personal note, and heavily biased towards the many sub-genre of rock since I mostly listen to them. I would say that these albums defined my music taste and preferences, and each album holds a special place in my heart. Who knows, maybe these albums would bring you comfort too, as it does to me. In no particular order:
1.) Lovely, Little, Lonely - The Maine
If I will have to rank this list, I would rank this album as number one. Mainly because this album pulled me through dark times, with their songs centered around coming to terms with yourself, embracing your imperfections, and falling back in love with the world and who you are. The lyrics are poetically written (like most songs of The Maine), and the signature sound of the band contributes to the overall aesthetic of the song. The Maine has lots of good albums, which makes them my primary favorite band, but Lovely, Little, Lonely tops all of them in my own personal preference.

2.) Homesick - A Day To Remember
A Day To Remember is another band that I am obsessed with, and their album Homesick is one of my favorite from theirs. The melodies of the chorus and the guitar breakdowns of their songs is what makes me hooked in this particular album.

3.) White Pony - Deftones
Of all the artists in this list, Deftones is one of my influences when it comes to guitar playing style: simple, yet haunting. This album is particularly dark, with most of their songs centered around sex and unusual things. What I love most about Deftones is that their song writing style is visual, with their lyrics describing a narrative for the listener to imagine rather than comprehend.

4.) As Tall As Lions - As Tall As Lions
I just recently discovered this album, and I am quite frustrated that I didn’t discover it sooner. This album roots from alternative rock and indie rock, and the melodies are beautifully and skillfully written.

Also rooted on indie rock, what I love most about this album is that it is the crunchy sound of the guitars in alternate tunings paired with ambient feel from synthesizers. Listening to this album brings my mind to a lake surrounded by forest on a cold gloomy weather. I have the biggest crush on Jess Abbott, their former guitarist of this album.

6.) Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park
A classic album that everyone loves– Hybrid Theory of Linkin Park. Melodically heavy, the album talks about depression, disappointments, and gathering up the strength to carry on. This album has also helped me out a lot during my darkest times, and brings out the pent up rage that I need to let out.

7.) Mayday Parade - Mayday Parade
A band close to The Maine, this album of Mayday Parade is one of my favorites in the alternative and pop-punk scene. Guitar driven and also poetically written, this album got me hooked up instantly. The album is heavily themed on romance and losing your love one.

8.) Boys Like Girls - Boys Like Girls
Probably the first band that I came to love on my high school days, this pop rock album of Boys Like Girls has no single song wasted. Also centered around love, loss, angst, and youth, this album has been relatable to me in my younger years.

I also recently discovered this album and this particular band, and boy, it was a gem to have found out about them. There is no math rock band that is comparable to Covet, with their classically inspired songs, in addition to Yvette Young’s unique guitar playing style. Of all the EP albums they have released, Currents was my favorite because it brings me to a state of tranquility, like floating on water, which is where this album is conceptualized on.

10.) Reincarnate - Motionless In White
I was obsessed with this band from my younger years too, and is my go to album today whenever I want to listen to heavy metal. I never thought that I would like gothic inspired music, but Motionless in White did it flawlessly. All throughout the album, the notes from the keys are haunting and sexy-sounding, as well as the heavy sound and breakdowns from the guitars.
