So . . . uh h there is this bo ok cal led the boy in the glas s cage So the book is about this kid named Zared who literally lives inside a glass cage right in the middle of a normal neighborhood. Everyone can see him and he can see everyone too, but the cage dulls everything. Sounds get muffled, touch is impossible, and he is stuck watching life happen right in front of him without being able to join in. He knows he could try breaking out, but the idea of the glass shattering and cutting him up freaks him out so he just stays inside. And the whole thing ends up mirroring how it feels to grow up . . . different . . . when no one around you knows how to understand you. People treat him like a curiosity or something to fix or sometimes just a problem, which hurts in ways he can’t really name. Then he meets Fatiah who cannot enter the cage but she refuses to act like it makes him untouchable. She brings stories and questions and this stubborn warmth that makes the cage feel a little less like a punishment. Together they start imagining what a different kind of space could look like, something he could actually choose instead of something he is forced to live in. The story does not end with him smashing the cage or anything dramatic. Instead he starts planning a future where he can reshape his world at his own pace. It is small and hopeful and honestly kind of lovely because it is about him deciding what he wants to be rather than what everyone else thinks he should be.
