Arthur being known as "the dead man's mouthpiece" is sooo intriguing to me. like several people use this nickname and he specifically dislikes it and it gets me thinking...

do people see something uncanny when they look into those yellow eyes of his? not just the usual, not-to-be-fucked-with expression, but something otherworldly. something that sends a cold shiver down the neck. something that unsettles even Faroe from time to time, when she sees her father staring into the distance or muttering to himself? Arthur has died and come back. Is he even the same person? Parker says he's changed. Parker says this version of Arthur is better, less of a wet rag. But at what cost? Do the people in the street bristle or shiver inexplicably when Arthur Lester passes? He'd never see it and maybe John doesn't notice or maybe John's too kind or too selfish to draw attention to it. But Arthur's instincts are reliable and his instincts are telling him that he's an outcast. People don't just think him strange, they're afraid of him. That may have its merits, but there's one person he never wants to scare. Faroe. And what if she feels that same unease around him? Does Faroe sense the subtle disarray in reality? Does she realise he's looking at her different? Is there less adoration in his gaze now, because it's not really Arthur looking back? He doesn't want her to be afraid of him especially because she has all the reason in the world to be afraid of him. it wouldn't be wrong of her to be afraid of him; it would be logical. He just doesn't want that to be true. He would never want to scare his baby girl because dear gods when it comes to Faroe... when it comes to Faroe, Arthur Lester is scared of himself first and foremost.
