Kunio-kun production story

This work was based on the youthful days of its creator [Yoshihisa Kishimoto]. The title also came from the name of Technos Japan’s president [Kunio Taki]. Mr. “Kunio-kun” is a natural born hot-blooded tough guy. Under such a president was Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun able to be completed. The development period lasted three months. The staff continued staying up all night day after day. Labor lasted around 18 hours a day. But it was all for Kunio-kun. This game was the fruits of Technos Japan’s blood and sweat.

PSN info database site Gamstat (with whom this is my first experience) posted a listing for “Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun Retro Brawler Bundle,” with Gematsu also adding the above image.

This looks to be the same Kunio-Kun World Classics Collection released in Japan, which is awesome news because that’s every Famicom-era Kunio game in Japanese and English, plus a bunch of Double Dragons. And looking at this image, even the Famicom boxarts have been newly translated, which is a weird and very cool touch. Definitely the kind of thing I would do were I to be invited onto the Kunio localization team, hint hint. (Thanks, Tanner!)
