For my final project I focused on nature and rainy days. I noticed in quarantine my hardest days have been the rainy ones, where you really feel trapped indoors. So I made myself explore them. I took photos of flowers and plants that have been blooming due to all the rain and changing of seasons. I took photos of them on overcast days before the rain came. The rain drop photos are some of my favorites. It reminded me of when I was a little kid watching the raindrops roll down the window. I don’t know if anyone else used to pretend they were racing each other to get down to the bottom of the window? 😂 anyways. These photos are of my windshield of my car. If it rained I sat in my car and took photos and then would hit the wind shield wipers and wait for new formations of raindrops.

During quarantine the constant thing changing for me during this is my backyard. I live on the water and every day we have swans, ducks, geese, etc. visiting us. Across the canal from me I see people coming to feed them and having it be their outting for the day instead of being stuck inside. I just feel lucky to call this backyard my home especially in a time like this. Every day I go outside and take new photos of the birds, the swans have just been so interesting to me. Having the birds and the tides change in my backyard help me realize time is still moving while I’m stuck in my house.

Most of these photos were taken before we had to live the social distancing lifestyle. I love photographing people so sadly this may be one of my last assignments with many people in them. All photos taken after dark, either with no light or one light.

Light and Shadow: for light and shadow I started with the last image in the sequence. I didn’t get many images that I liked though but I thought this one was cool. (It’s a piece of paper I cut and twisted). All images are taken using one spotlight with a make shift snoot. I focused on color and the dramatic lighting and shadow provided by the one spotlight on the items.

When it comes to the color temperature being different throughout the photos I enjoy it. It shows the passage of time throughout Golden Hour and the intensity of the light.
