At the time, I wanted a 5200, but I didn’t have any friends to try it out and it wasn’t widely available. Then when Colecovision launched, I got one of those instead. Whew.

The default color was an...unusual choice. Who doesn’t remember the Great Console Wars of the early 2000s, spread across every gaming message board? The color was often derided for its kiddeh  appeal, but what fun was had with this thing!

Pre-commissioned painting, I didn’t even know there was an all-white controller, as it was a Japan-only release apparently.
