kurusu akira headcanon - reversal AU

While Akira is more stable in comparison to Strega - attributing it to further development and research into Shadows through cognitive psience - he would probably still rely on a less lethal variant of the suppressants to keep Mephistopheles under check. Mephistopheles is extremely powerful and angry, and when Akira first summoned him, Akira was in no way capable of controlling him at all.

Due to the suppressants also causing irregular body temperatures, Akira wears gloves and scarves quite often, alongside a lot of turtlenecks and long sleeves.

kurusu akira headcanon - reversal AU

This is a little loose plotting of mine for a reverse AU in which Akira takes the role of the metaverse killer, all the while keeping in spirit who Akira is.

(Also keep in mind that this is rather loose plotting and nothing's 100% concrete, lol.)

Firstly, Akira stumbled on the metaverse and his Persona first, years before the events of P5. Exposure to a Plume of Dusk that had escaped the Kirijo Group's eye caused Akira to manifest a Persona (rather painfully, somewhat akin to Strega and the forceful manifestation). His parents, former Kirijo researchers who then were sponsored (under the table) to continue research by a politician, were the ones lead to Akira's premature manifestation.

Indebted (and possibly coerced) to the politician, Akira was, essentially, forced to work for Shido. He was one of the few in a small research group that had the potential for Personas in the first place, as well as survive their encounter. (One researcher, who essentially sparked Shido's interest in funding this work into cognitive psience, had a child who also had the potential of a Persona. But Isshiki kept her own child's potential quiet, having seen what happened to the Kurusu's child.)

(In the end of all this, Akira ends up killing Isshiki Wakaba at the behest of Shido - possibly blackmail and manipulation. Shido orchestrates the murder of the Kurusu couple, which results in Akira falling into Shido's control, fostering internal bitter hatred within Akira, as well as a genuine fear of forming bonds.)

Akira becomes a public figure via Shido's manipulations (like how Goro was) - a teen detective that reminds many of the previous detective prince, Shirogane Naoto. There is an air of mystery around him, and a sense of maturity, as opposed to canon!Goro's boy band, Johnny look.

When Akira becomes involved with the Phantom Thieves, his initial Persona is a red-clad and thin creature known as Sir Percy. (It's pretty much Arsene in appearance, except with more flamboyancy and flowers.) (Sir Percy is the main character of the novel The Scarlet Pimpernel - a foppish, playboy at day, but a skilled swordsman and vigilante at night. He is often touted as the first 'superhero' in fiction.)

Akira's true persona - the one he initially awakened via the Plume of Dusk - is Mephistopheles. During his awakening, Akira essentially made a 'deal with the devil', to prevent himself from going mad and dying like the other experiments.

(Third Persona, I don't have much idea for. XP.)

Not a headcanon post, just another writer's musing specifically concerning Akira and why I really headcanon and prefer having a connection with Adachi.

Back when P5 was first announced, I read a shit ton of fanfics, and there was this one that kind of stood out to me, in a way. It was a P4 fanfic, with references to P5. It was written before P5 was released, so the author had an entirely different interpretation for the Phantom Thieves, but it really defined how I would see Akira when I did my first playthrough. Basically, the fanfic made it so that P5 happens before P4, and it ended up in a bad end for the Phantom Thieves, leaving P5 protag jaded and feeling utterly guilty and empty, and eventually twisting the protag so much that by the time P4 happens, the P5 protag becomes a very familiar figure.

Yes, in that fanfic, the protag of P5 was Adachi, and the bad end drove him to become a nihilistic, bitter adult who became resentful of the world he lived in.

Because of that fanfic, as well as reading a lot of other dark fanfics, I started to really associate Akira with Adachi - in a 'oh Akira could have easily become something similar to Adachi'. And I've always been a fan of the accomplice!AU Akira, or even reverse!AU where Akira and Goro switch roles. While I can't really see Akira acting exactly like Adachi anymore, I could also see a bitter Akira living in an actualized world ala Maruki, feeling so disillusioned and would also be saying "reality sucks" (though more saying Maruki's reality sucks.

Besides Arsene/Raoul being there for the entire journey, Akira had a few personas that, essentially, remained by his side until the final battle. Seth, Yatagarasu, and Kohryu were constantly in his roster. However, there were Personas that, as Igor put it, were once part of another story, that seemed to resonate with Akira a fair bit.

The first one of these unusual Personas was Kaguya Picaro - there was something oddly familiar about this Persona. Something about this Persona reminded Akira of home, of Inaba. Of the fog, of needing to find the truth.

The other Persona that never left his mind since he fused it was Magatsu Izanagi Picaro. While Kaguya gave a familiar comfort, Magatsu Izanagi gave Akira a chilly familiarity. It was like this Persona knew him - that Magatsu Izanagi has been watching over him, even before the events in Tokyo.

Goro wears gloves for many reasons. The first is because, as Shido's personal hitman, he wants to leave as little evidence as possible at the scene of a crime. Sure, the crimes mainly occur in the Metaverse, but habits do form, and he wants to curb those as much as possible.

Secondly, while he logically knows his hands are physically clean... He still sees blood on them. Not his victim's blood - no, Goro has absolutely no care for the people he has murdered, nor is he repentant about it. The blood he sees is his mother's. The trauma of seeing his mother's corpse, and being the one to clean up had scarred him.

(And, does he have lingering regrets on killing the one person he could have thought as a rival, or, heaven-forbid, a friend? Well, yes. But Goro was already set on his goal. He knew the price he would pay, eventually, whether by broken relations or a loss of life.

kurusu akira headcanon ( post P5R )

After all the Phantom Thieves events and trials, Akira was listless on what he wanted to do in the future. Though his criminal record has been cleared, he is publicly known as the leader of the Phantom Thieves - thus, background checks would be difficult. After graduating high school, he ended up just living a life of a freeter, eventually earning enough money to rent a small apartment back in Tokyo and just return to city life again.

less of a headcanon post, more of another musing post, this time about Akira.

I have a personal preference to using Kurusu Akira as his name, rather than the official name of Amamiya Ren. First off, back when I originally played Persona 5, it was upon first release, and the only name released for him was from the Persona 5 manga. I simply got used to the name "Kurusu Akira". Secondly, the fact that the name is very similar to Kurosu Jun, a character from Persona 2, who just so happens to also go by "Joker".
