For we all loved Peter, even when he was cruel. His approval was hungrily sought, and his derision cut sharper than the blade of a pirateâs sword.

Pertinent quotes from Lost Boy by Christina Henry & J.M. Barrieâs works
Peter didnât sleep much, and when he did it was just a quick nap. He would not waste a bit of his life in slumber, even though his life was already longer than most, and he hated the way the rest of us succumbed, dropping like biting flies in the summer heat while he pestered us for one more game.
The difference between him and the other boys at such a time was that they knew it was make-believe, while to him make-believe and true were exactly the same thing. This sometimes troubled them, as when they had to make-believe that they had had their dinners.
Sometimes I thought that Peter couldnât be hurt, and thatâs why he didnât bother so much when others were, for he couldnât understand their pain.
Peter never lost an argument-and not because he wasnât wrong; he was, and pretty often too-but because he never got tired. Heâd keep coming back at you no matter how right you were until you threw up your hands and let him win just so youâd have some peace.
He always waited till the last moment, and you felt it was his cleverness that interested him and not the saving of human life.
Headcanons
Peter doesnât dream. In fact, he seldom ever sleeps. He can go months without a wink. When he does finally deign to rest, itâs never for more than a couple of hours. He longs to dream, but since he cannot, he preys upon the dreams of others. Tinker Bell taught him how to creep into the unconscious minds of weaker beings the way that the .
The reason Wendy Darling has forgotten the more sordid facts of her previous time spent on the island is due to Peter reaching across the distance to meddle with her mind while she dreamt. Neverland creates a fog inside your head to protect itself. While youâre on the island, this fog keeps you from remembering much of the Other Place. When you leave the island, the fog erases your memories of your time spent on it. Peter kept that fog from completely wiping out the memory of himself. It was his petty way of keeping his grasp on her even while she was in the Other Place. Heâs never been very good at letting go of his favorite playmates.
Peterâs own mind has always been his worst enemy. Every thrill he seeks is in the hope that the adrenaline of the moment might distract him from his own thoughts for even the briefest of moments. He hates to sit still, because when he does, his thoughts get louder and heâs terrified to succumb to them. When heâs active and bustling about, itâs easy to be the boy who forgets and doesnât care about things. When heâs still, all his old emotional hurts begin to seep back into his bones.
Peter likes to talk candidly with the Merfolk who inhabit the waters surrounding Neverland...well, itâs more that he likes to talk at them. They are the closest he has to an equal in temperament and nature. The Small Folk tend to be too morally righteous and humans have never, ever been capable of understanding or accepting him. He doesnât feel the need to play pretend around the Merfolk. He speaks plainly around them. Peter may not remember which one is which most of the time â but when he speaks to them, he speaks true.
Wanted connections
OPEN - Peter told one person and only one person on the island that heâd resolved to bring Wendy back and before their conversation was even finished, heâd left to go fetch the Darling girl. This would make the most sense to go to one of the merfolk because they tend to be the ones he confides in the most, after Tinker Bell of course. But Peter wouldnât have gone to Tink because he knows she would have tried to stop him. Not that she wouldnât have known anyhow, but he wouldnât have ever verbally confirmed it or willingly brought up the subject around her. Depending on who this one goes to, they may have even known he was considering it for a long time and he might have told them about each time he went to the Other Place to check on Wendy and tamper with her memories.
OPEN - For one of the Lost Boys, Peter loves to raid the pirate camp; however, sometimes the raid isnât quite chaotic enough. Occasionally heâll switch sides and turn on the Lost Boys to keep them on their toes. One Lost Boy is sporting a nasty scar from one such excursion. Itâs only a scar now, but wounds like those are particularly dangerous in Neverland and tend to lead to fevers and death from infection. For Peter, it had been all in good fun, but for the recipient, it could have been a mark of death.
OPENÂ - After the Darlings left with all but one of his Lost Boys, Peter threw Wendyâs âkissâ into the stormy sea amidst a blinding rage. Heâs never gone looking for it. In fact, heâs forgotten all about it. But someone may have sought it out or stumbled upon it. What they did with it is completely up to them, but itâs bound to serve some sort of purpose at some point...
